    45 XTP swaged from 40 S&W

SUCCESS! Though I already perfected this notch punch on the 44 it is nice to see it worked just as well on the 45s. Here we have a 245 grain XTP look a like swaged from the 40 S&W brass. I used a RCBS RC press to seat the core, Laymen OC press to notch it and a Lee Classic cast press to form the bullet. All stock presses with no dificulties. It would be even easier to form with a larger handle for more leverage.

Well It will be fun to see the range results when these get back from testing. Should make a very good bullet. Really goes to show anything is possible when you swage your own.

    Good shooting,

BT's dies are based on the CH4D swaging dies that are made to fit reloading presses. Since the Corbins' presses do double duty as reloading presses (Sea Girt excluded)...these dies should work.

    Stunningly beautiful

    Very professional

seated and crimped - they'd be impossible to tell from factory ammo.

All thoughts that quickly whistled through my head upon seeing those pics...

Brian - How do you get the cannelures so perfect. I've got a hand-cranked, hand-pressured cannelure tool, and I found it quite difficult to get the cannelures so consistent as you do... Please, please, PLEASE share your secret!!!

Just a thought here, but has anyone checked to see if Hornady trademarked "XTP"?

Could be an issue for you down the road.
