I'm using 17gr AA5744 under the 175gr Saeco #315 in a Marlin 336CB. This load works very well to at least 385m. Mine are loaded to 2.565" wich does function through the action.

I found IMR 4198, using 20-22 gr works good with the 311291 bullet in my 788 Rem. IMR 4198 is a powder recommended by many gun writers for the 30-30 with cast. After trying it, I tend to agree.

i load the .32 LFP 115gn over 7gn of unique for dad. cheap, no recoil we both love it.

i have began loading the NOE 311440 150gn over 10gn of unique. only shot a couple of test shots but it looks good.

I load the 311041 over 18 gr of 4198 for 200 yard silhouette shooting at my club. Works great for me.

My best 30-30 loads to date are:

    7.0 700X with a plain-based 150 to 170-gr bullet. 1300 fps.

    16.0 2400 with a 170-gr Lee FPGC. 1900 fps.

    22.0 A5744 (same bullet) 2000 fps.

150 to 190 grain GC bullet over 15 to 17 grains of 4227, 2400 or 4759. You will find happyness within the foregoing.

Excellent load not only in my Contender Carbine but also my M94 Carbine and Blk Shadow M94AE w/24" barrel. This is my standard 30-30 load.

16 gr. 2400 for 150 and above. Just seems to work best for me!

Anyone have an accurate 30-30 load that spits a 150 or less grain boolit out at near 2000 fps? I'd like to do this with as few grains of powder as possible. The lightest .30 cal mold I currently own is 311041 and I'm shopping for something lighter for small game and varmints/predators. I was thinking of maybe adding RCBS 30-115 and 30-150 to my collection or maybe even SAECO 302 and 316.

36 grains of 4350 works in mine. The same load of 4831 does well in my single shot but I am leery of the unburned grains of powder in the leveraction.

I use the RCBS 30-150-FN over 18 gr of 4759 with a 1/2 gr dacron filler. Velocity is 1909 fps with excellent accuracy out of my M94AE. I didn't test higher than that as that was exactly what i was looking for so higher velocity could reasonably be expected.

21 gr of 5744 w/o filler pushed 1900 fps also out of my M94 Carbine with excellent accuracy.

    Larry,

Those loads sound good. Did you find an advantage using filler with the 4759 load? It doesn't seem like 1/2 grain would take up much space in the case and might even allow the powder to migrate around the filler. Did you tamp the Dacron on top of the powder? Have you ever played with SAECO 316 which I kinda like the looks of better than the RCBS boolit (higher BC); however, accuracy is the name of the game and the RCBS boolit might be a better critter stopper. What diameter does your RCBS 30-150 drop in say WW metal?

    Thank you,
    MJ

P.S. Larry, please mike the nose on your 30-150's... the nose diameter may be a factor in shooting well through my 336's (I don't have any more M94's).

Thanks rhead but that's too much powder.

Sorry. I did not see the powder weight restrictions in the OP. Thought you just wanted 2000+ fps with good accuracy.
