    Yugo 48

Picked up a Yugo model 48 from P.A. Distributing.
    http://www.p-a-distributing.com/index.html
Looks just like the one that they have pictured on their web page.
New un-fired with a shiny new bore.
They have a very nice scope and mount also.
Drilled, taped and mounted the scope and it looks real good.

Looking for a good cast load for it.
    Have a Saeco 081 8mm 190 Gr. RNGC mould that I would
Like to use. But could always use a new mould!

As for powder any thing goes.
Have a good selection and could always use something new.

Hope some one has gone down this road before and will share
    any load info.

    Thanks
    Swede Nelson

Try a top book load with that Saeco boolit. It has always shot very good with it.

I have a new unissued Yugo 48B. I put a receiver sight on it and using the Lee 175 grain cast bullet and any medium to top load with medium to slow rifle powders I'm betting my will shoot dang close to what you get with your scope, it shoots that good.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
Have a LEE 175 Gr. 8mm on order.
Do either of you have a proffered powder or load?

Hope the one that I have will shoot as good as yours.

    Thanks Again!

My Yugo 48 does very well with the Lee 175 and 19.0 gr. 2400. The same load also is quite accurate with the custom Lee 240 gr. designed by Buckshot.

I have a few surplus powder like 844, 4895, 860, and 5010. With the 844 and 4895 I started with like 27 grs and worked up to where I wanted the velocity to be. With the 5010 I stuffed the case, usually 50 grs. The round and rifle shoot so well that any of the rifles powders are fine like 3031, 4320, 4350, the ones I named. I've stuck with the old powders and being I hardly shoot jacketed anymore I really never got around to trying all the new powders. I've had such good sucess with the old powder, why mess with it. The 8x57 is really good round. I never got in cast to find an economical powder load, that is using small amounts of pistol/shotgun powder, but because I liked shooting bullets I made so I shoot them like jacketed, well just about. I like the power in a good rifle load. Your ideas may be different. I don't, on the other hand, believe in pounding a rifle to death either.

.................Not real exciting sounding, but some oldie, moldy, favorites all in about a performance clump are 20 to 22grs of 4227, and SR4759. Also 21 to 26grs of 4198 or ReL7. For the light Lee these work also, but one you might like too is merely 10 to 12.0 grs of Unique. They'll all punch a hole clean through the target paper or pop can!

If you want to impress your friends and neighbors try a casefull of surplus WC860 or 872 with that 190 gr slug. Barring those look up the data for 4831 and that boolit weight and use that.

    BTW, welcome to the board!

With that Lee boolit I have been using 2400 powder ( 18.2 gr ) and for me w/ open sights it will hold 2" at 100 yds on an SR 21 target on a regular basis
