I prefer the Goex cartridge powder for my 45-70 trapdoor loads. When used with either straight BP or duplex loads it has given the best loading consistancy and accuracy of several BPs I've tried.

I would have to agree with Larry. Goex Cartridge Grade has been the best and most economical powder of choice. I can easily get 70 grains (By Weight) into a remington 45-70 case and still have room for a 455gr boolit that is seated to the crimp groove.

Strange! I can get 71 to 74 gr's of either Swiss 1-1/2 or FFFG behind 530 and 540 gr boolits in the 45-70 with moderate compression. Never had much luck with any Goex powders as far as accuracy and velocity. It also must be screened for the large amount of dust in each can.
I understand Goex has a new powder out but I have not found it yet.

Express is their new line of powder in the 'F' granulations.

It is supposed to be 'better' at leaving moist fouling and some other things...as I understand.

I think it is intended to emulate Swiss, and it comes pretty close...in the price department.

Cartridge grade has not changed. Apparently, what they have been doing in the production process for Cartridge is similar to what they are now doing to produce the Express powders.

Sounds real good and is a very high velocity for cartridge powder.
