Marty-hiding out in the hills.
I second the Lee 230 TC TL. Accurate and reliable out of my 45 auto loaders, easy to cast, etc.

Lee 230 grain truncated bullet with traditional lube groove. The 230 grain tumble lube design is virtually the same and works just as well if you prefer such method for lubing.
I like the Lee TC 230 with the conventional lube groove, and I prefer to TL them with the JP/MS mix
IHMSA # 566 "time sure flies when you're having FUN"
+1 on the Lee, but mine drops at 240gr.
45 AUTO! Because having to shoot someone twice is just silly!
i am in the club for lyman 452374 .
had the mould for 50 years so you might say it is a old friend.

Kind of a toss-up between the RCBS 45-230-CM, the 452374 Lyman or the Saeco 457 with me. I like them all./beagle

I have the Lee RN TL mold. Once I get primers, I'll let you know how it does.
I'll get in on this, the 452374 and it's factory HP brother, the "Devastator" are great boolits. For almost all my uses now, my "Go To" mould is my Lee 452-230-TC with traditional lube groove. I used the TL version for a while, but the microbands were undersized and I had accuracy and leading issues with it. Not a bad design, just probably a bad combo with my particular mould and guns.
Interestingly enough, the traditional-groove design works like a champ with tumble lube!

Agreed. I also like the Lee 228-1R. I prefer the dbl lube grooves to TL grooves. The bullet casts well, shoots great.I'll get in on this, the 452374 and it's factory HP brother, the "Devastator" are great boolits.
Just got a Saeco 457 and it is now my favorite!

Saeco #954 which is a round nose flat point bullet with crimp grove for 45 Colt revolvers works very well in an acp plus doubles as a revolver bullet if you have one of those far superior hand guns.
Saeco moulds run a bit small in diameter but since this one is specified to cast at .454” for the old prewar Colt you can actually drop a usable sized bullet. Mine will even size to .454”. Imagine that.
That all said I much prefer a 200 grain bullet in a 45 acp but that's off topic. Sorry
If you have any of the foreign guns like Taurus or East European stuff I'd stay with the Lyman bullet sine they all are marginal feeders. If the Lyman RN won't feed nothing will IMO. If you want an accurate powerful deep penetrating bullet get a 200 grain H&G #68 SWC. Most accurate plus most deadly bullet ever made for the 1911. Not my opinion just a fact. John Browning designed the 1911 to use a 200 grain bullet then the Army asked for a 230 grain bullet. Who do you think knew best? For those who own a pistol that won't feed a SWC Magma makes a 45 colt rnfp and a TC design in 200 grain. Simle fact is you need over 900 fps to yield a hydroshock teporary wound cavity and a 230 grain 45 acp does not get their . Steel plates do not care of course.
I simply would not care to own a 45 acp pistol that would not shoot the H&G #68 200 grain SWC. Not trying to stir up any debate. Just that I'm opinionated and stuck in my ways.
I one I like the best is H&G #34 followed by H&G 292.

QuotesI'm not convinced. What do all those words above translate to? Shooting at a swinging nurf ball at 10 yds? How about showing some targets?I second.... way more accurate than I remembered...works just as well if .....it is a old friend....I like them all.....works like a champ ....shoots great...it is now my favorite...works well....most accurate
