VERY impressive, based on what you've show i could probably build one myself. the inside of the ram? what is it threaded to? and what diameters did you bore it out to?? sim assuming since there is a "step" inside somewhere that it is wider at the top and the goes down to 7/8ths or 3/4's of an inch after a certain length? could you provide some details about that part of the machining? thats about the only thing that im unsure about with this press.

    Regards

    Craig

Craig, first welcome to the site..... the thread size will depend on your dies but I used 7/8-14 to fit the dies I have.

The bore past the threads is a little larger than .750 The ejector punch body is .750 and it needs to be a slip fit.

Here is a post from Buckshot with some more details, I pretty much followed his dimensions.

With your skills I would rather build it than buy it no matter what. I'm a huge fan of your work!

Thanks; It was a little tough going off of pictures though

We had another thread here were several of us hashed out a lot of the details and got some dimensions.
Ill see if I can do some swage dies next, that will be the big test

Sorry no drawings, dont know if there will be.

There are a lot of variables the end user would need to decide on. The info is here for the basic framework.

If Ive left something out or something needs cleared up just ask.

Your press is SUPER COOL!!! Top quality craftsmanship. I've spent countless hours drooling over it since you first posted pics. Yesterday, I bought most of the materials and have started milling them to the proper dimensions. However, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering them.

    1. In your list of materials, you show two 24" toggle links and a 24" handle. However, in the picture, the handle appears at least 6" longer. Can you tell me how long your toggle links ended up being?

    2. Can you tell me the length of the two longer center pieces on your main toggle bar? I'm asking about the ones that bolt through the bottom of the ram. Also, can you tell me where you located the holes in them? I'd rather avoid guessing and end up getting them in the wrong place after putting all of that time into fabricating the toggle.

Thanks a million for taking the time to post pictures of your work and for answering everybody's questions.

Thanks Doug; The toggle links will need trimmed to length, thats one of those areas where the length doesent matter to a point.

I started with 18" long pieces for the links and I had wished the were a little longer so I changed to 24" links on the material list.

Im not sure if there is an "ideal" length, I plan on making another set a little longer.

Here is a pic of the toggle and some more details. The smaller pieces are 2" square. The longer pieces ended up being about 5 inches. I cut mine long to begin with and kept trimming it.....

The holes where the links attatch are on center top to bottom and .75 to the center from the face, on the small pieces. And that is the pivot point centerline.

The placement of the holes where the ram attatches will determine the length of the stroke. With 180 degrees of travel the distance is basicly doubled so from the pivot point I settled on 1 1/2" for the first and 3" for the second hole.

That give 3" of stroke for swaging and 6" for reloading. If youre planning on a swage only press you can omit the extra length and it would make the mounting a little easier

Also the links will need a litttle rounding of the corners on one end, the other end can be left square.

One more addition I did (like on the corbin presses) was add a plate to tie the links together, it really helps everything feel a lot more solid.

    ANEAT,

You have been working hard on this press. How much time have you got in it?

Your are great in helping all of us with this information. I can't wait to get started on mine.

    Thanks

Skip I would hate to guess on the time. Its a hobby right?? LOL Anyway I consider it time well spent. Probably as much time trying to figure out and understand how things go together as machining.

Hopefully Ill see a lot of you guys make one as well, then I think the time well be well worth it.
Its not overly complicated but it would have been nice to have one on hand to "copy"

Of course if I had one I would probably be busy making bullets

Good point! Nice work Adam. Got to love this sight! Thanks for sharing your project. Yeh now I'll have to make one someday. It is interesting to see just how many people have gotten started in this hobby in one form or another because of the willingness of the many great members here to share ideas. Thanks again.
