    Went to a flea market today and got a like new turkey cooker for $5.00, How do these perform for melting using dutch oven, Thanks- JOe

    Top notch find smokemjoe. Thats what most serious smelters use. Make sure the legs will support over a hundred lbs of lead and the pot.

    Sounds like you got a great deal.

    On mine, I had to raise the burner a couple of inches to make it more efficient, and later I replaced the defective safety timer. The first mod required a hacksaw and some 1/4" nuts and bolts.

    I have pics on this board about the latter fix.
