    LOL!
Thanks "ammohead" and "BruceB" for the info.

My AR is a .300 Whisper and I have some beautiful 200gr. Silhouettes for it as well as some 155gr. C.E. Harris Spire Points.

    I do have "other" rifles...LOL!
I have a great truck gun that just came back from my gunsmith after do some mods. that make the rifle truly "mine"...it's an FR-8 Spanish Mauser in .308 and I have some lovely Lyman 173gr. boolits as well as the above-mentioned 155s.

    SWEET!...I am getting excited.
Would look forward to meeting up with some of you guys and as one of the "youngsters" on here (only been casting for a year now)...would look forward to any sage advice.

As far as reservations...ummm, I am one of those guys who is into the
"rugged individualism" philosophy. There is plenty of BLM land around Winnemucca, I'll just "rough it".

    Looking forward to it...

    Bruce,
I had to miss last years shoot but this year should be a go. Trying to figure out that 45-120 so that I can at least lob great chunks-o-lead downstream.
Really missed not being able to go to last years shoot as it is probably the premiere cast boolit shoot here on the west coast.
And I have to get Onceabull's moulds back to him or buy them if I can.
Jane and I are soooo looking forwards to this years shindig....Walt

    BruceB,

Just found your POST! NCBS 2010 I believe our gang (cobbmtmac's-onceabull's-Cousins/Jack-Anita/nephew-David/Sue) will all be there. Oh and I think maybe 1-2 more. Last year there were 10 of us and I have heard rumors that we're growing.

Anyway, needless to say, we are all excited! I will get right to making reservation just as soon as I finish this post. I will give you firm numbers as we get closer.

    Bruce,
Lord willin', my lovely wife and I will be there again this year. We BOTH had so much fun last year, that we are really looking forward to seeing all of you again.

    Take care!

    Hey Bruce!
Our reservations are made and confirmed. Also, I have a good friend who will probably be attending this year. His wife will be with him, but may not participate in the shooting activities.
I will let you know as soon as I do if he will be attending for sure!

(Loading, loading, loading - no running out of ammo this year!!!)

I haven't kept up with the latest news here. What places are available for accomodations, and do you need to book it way in advance?

Pat, (BruceB please copy) Jaremy, the kid who borrows my guns and beats me, are booked in at the Santa Fe Inn and have been for a month. Remembering what the Jehovah's Witnesses did to us last year makes us make sure of reservations early. There are also two Best Westerns, Model T, and the Red Lion, and probably several others. Mapquest, Yahoo Maps, or Google maps can give you a list of accomodations.

    couple questions

My wife and I love Winnemucca and we rockhound there annually (opal, agate, etc). She wants to know what the wives are up to if they don't shoot. My question is whether anyone would care if I occasionally use gas checks in some of my loads such asin my 30/30 for instance.

My wife is a serious untrained rockhound. She's like Lucy on her honeymoon .. She would be in heaven looking out there.

............No problem at all with GC's. There is only a problem with the bullets having "Full Length Gas Checks"

Left: These type GC's are fine. Right: These type FLGC's are Verboten.

The womenfolk not shooting are socializing with other such womenfolk of like mind. Giving and getting information on how reining in hubbie's affliction has been less then hoped for, or how they've mostly compensated, or simply learned to overlook the mania. Some even have decided to take part in the rifle or pistol team competitions. There are also a few casino's in town.

If I bring my Garand and shoot cast boolits with PP's can I play? This thing cycles great and dumps the empties right in front of me and has the recoil of a .223 and the report of a much smaller gun than it is.

If I can convince my shooting buddy to come along (forum member also) we can share expenses and enjoy the trip together. I need to get with him before I commit and make the required motel reservation.

    Heavens, YES!

Anything shooting cast loads is 100% OK.

Note, however, that the Garand will not be "eligible" for the Team Rifle shoot unless it's single-loaded. Other autoloaders are not permitted (subject to the Rools Kommittee decisions, of course). That's to even the playing field for those with "slower" rifles...no extra mags or stripper clips allowed, either.

Most shooters in this event single-load their rifles, because one MIGHT fire as many as thirty or forty rounds just as fast as possible. Reloading a magazine just takes too much time! I seem to recall one year when Buckshot used a trapdoor Springfield in this "speed" event, proving to some degree that accuracy trumps fast noise....

Well, I hope to make it with my two Garands. Perhaps if there are enough we might come up with a little shoot just for us Garand guys

I don't think I can make it this year, but for those wanting RV facilities, there are two RV parks in Winnemucca. One is called Winnemucca RV park, the other is Hi Desert RV Park. They're both on the east end of town.

    Regards,

    Sorry to hear that, Stew.

Buckshot and I had a similar conversation on Friday, concerning us getting off our fat apathies and making some reservations. He'll be awake by 2 P.M., I'm sure......so I'll call then and make sure he wants to "pull the trigger".

Maybe the RV route may be the way to go. I'll have to give a call to find out the rates.

One problem might be AC through. I have none if it's hot.

If my wife, Holly, can get out of a meeting she has scheduled for the day we should leave for the shoot I think we should be able to make it.
Now if someone can give me a ride to the range, Holly can take a couple people rockhounding up in Paradise Valley for opal or over to Chimney Dam for agate and jasper.
Normally we camp in some fine campsites on creeks or springs up in Paradise Valley but at other times of year. May, however, is a big month for mormon crickets and those big ugly bugs give me the willies (I can handle scorpions, tarantulas, etc) so we will stay in town.
What direction from town is the range? Is it near the creek just south of town and up the mountain.

What? That I can't make it, or that there are two RV parks in town?

BTW, there are 267 RV sites available between the two RV parks. I'd think that would be enough.
