    M1 garand paper patching

    Is there anyone doing it?
    Would like to get some info on it please.

    I would be if I could get a .309 mold hat was not GC. It really bites not having a machine shop locally.
    Well, in my case 30-06 M-77 but might as well be a garand ballistically speaking except for the gas tube stuff

    So, they have to be non-GCed moldes?
    Why? Does it make it too much like a boattail?

    I would guess, and its totally a guess, that paper might be a problem with the garand if it gets into the gas operated action. I really have no idea. Just a thought.

    I have not had a problem using gas check style bullets for paper patching. If you did get paper into the gas system I don't expect it would be hard to get it out. Opening up the garand gas system is rather easy.
    Some where between here and there.....
