The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Never laugh at your wife's choices.
You are one of them.
I voted this poll quite a while ago but never commented. I've forgotten how I voted but suspect that it was .45 ACP since I have more handguns in this cartridge than the others, but since I like most big bore revolvers I would have to say that .44(both Spec. and Mag.), .45 Colt(.454 Casull is a .45 Colt Mag) and .475 L. are favorites also.
I am surprised that .40 is not more popular here. Most of the brass I find at the range is .40S&W. I hardly ever shoot the one I have.
There is no way I could leave out the .357 bores since I load a lot of these and have a .357 carry gun. It is an old police trade in that I had modified to a DAO by bobbing the hammer and an action job. It is a round butt with Pachmayr grip and 3" bbl.
The comment that it is like "choosing one of your children" is right on target.

I love my Vaquero in .45 Colt, but I just got a Bisley in .44 special. As soon as I make some boolits for it, it might move to #1. We'll see.
44 mag does it all. My 454 can be a bit much without reduced loads in some situations (but I do love it).
I would never have admitted this till recently, but I purchased a Springfield XD 45 6 months ago and my Glock 22 now stays at home. How did this happen?
you left out the 22 rimfire...
Go now and pour yourself a hot one...
I voted "other" because my FA .454 Casull is just the bees' knees, followed closely by my .44 Mag.
How on earth can one make up a potential list of "favorite" pistol calibers and leave out the 10mm???
Marty-hiding out in the hills.
Went with other, while i have 22LR, 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp Im just not much of a pistol shooter. So my pistol shooting is mostly to keep up proficiency with them.
10mm definitely.
But alas I'm sticking with 45acp for cost efficiency.
Fast is fine but accuracy is final.
Favorite caliber is 45, favorite cartridge is 45 acp, or 45 Colt (BP and SP) and must admit I enjoy my C&B revolver that fires, you guessed it, 45 caliber balls.

Some of my favorite recipes start out with a handful of depleted counterbalance devices.
Favorite and shoot the most are two different things I think. My favorite is the .41Mag. I've had a couple of Blackhawks in it and am looking for another one. My favorite now is my .357 Blackhawk. It will shoot any load I put in it from either any manu or handload and do well but really loves H110 and 158gr SWC Cast. 1/2 dollar at 50 feet. The one I shoot the most is my .45 because I carry it.
Although I will say this..I will never sell my Ruger Single Six 22. I carry it whenever I'm at camp and wandering around the woods and have fired thousands of rounds through it. It's an old friend. I've bought and sold over 100 handguns for various reasons but still have my 22.
As usual in life, the 10MM is the Red-Headed Step Child.
Not even on the List!

I voted also on this thread long ago. Not sure if I commented or not. At any rate, the pistol I shoot the most is the 1911's in 45ACP. I think it's the easiest to cast and load for. Very forgiving AND accurate. Gotta love it !! Mike
