.45ACP because I shoot two matches of bullseye per week at my club. Favorite and a very close is .41 magnum.

.32 NAA. The Mouse that Roared. At the range when fired the other shooters ask what the Hell did you just shoot? They have to try it themselves.
Cheap to reload and accurate out of a 4" barreled ,converted Makarov pistol.

I've changed my "Favorite" 3 times in the last 13 years ... the 45 acp was my favorite but bending over and picking up the empties has gotten to be too hard ...I'm Too old , Too Fat and have Too much back pain for all that bending and stooping and gathering empties all over the floor .
The 41 magnum was next , empties stayed in the gun ...sweet ! ... But now ... we are favoring the 38 special , loaded with wadcutters and 2.7 grs. Bullseye .... getting old sucks rocks !

Hmmmm Seems I voted but never posted. 44 Mag is still my favorite but there's been caliber spread.

.32SW long in 2 different guns. Light recoil, low muzzle blast, shoots accurate as I can hold.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

Just re-read the original question(s). The poll asks for the favorite but the question asks which is shot the most. Not necessarily the same thing. The .45 Colt is my favorite because in a Ruger Blackhawk it can be just about anything from very light loads with a 160 grain lightweight to a heavyweight with .44 Magnum energy levels and heavier boolits. The one I have shot the most is .40 S&W because that's what I shoot in USPSA matches.

I also enjoy loading for the .45 Colt. I usually make the rounds for it on a Rock Chucker one at a time other than for cowboy action which gets loaded on the 550. Loading for the .40 S&W is just manufacturing, cranking out volumes of ammunition on a 650. Both get my hand cast boolits, though.

Regardless of all the hype , all the positive press , all the build up and stories of it's greatness and it's wonderment ... the 9mm Luger ...still sucks rocks ...
I'm not surprised because the members here know the score !

    Look at the numbers for 45 acp , 45 Colt , 38 special and 357 magnum ...
    ... 204 ... lot of love for those 4 .

    And still relevant.
I just skimmed through every response. Nobody mention the albino stepchild; 30 carbine. Fun to shoot, easy to load, more power at 100 yards than a 357.

My favorite today is the .32 ACP which was not up there. Arthritis has got to my hands so the .32 is what I shoot and carry the most. I carried a STI Perfect 10 with a 6" barrel till Aethritis hit and I went to a 1903 .32 ACP Colt Hamerless. Before the STI my carry was a 1911 Government in .45 ACP, about 50 years. Uncle Sam had me carry some others when he sent me on vacations to interesting places.

That center fire deer hunting hand gun would be my 44 magnum.

Due to inlation, and the new cost of primers I can pretty much accept that instead of 8 to 10 cents a round it is going to be a whole lot closer to 24 cents ea.

That is also what .22mag rounds cost, but there is no diminishing of my components stash when I shoot them.

So .22mag is pretty much the only thing I have been shooting. And not a whole lot of that.

I voted for 45 ACP but I never found a caliber I didn't like. 45 ACP is easy to load, easy to wash and tumble, dries easy, tons of brass and there are a wide variety of boolit styles. Just get pissed off at Blazer and Federal using small pistol primers in their loaded ammo!!!! The empty brass cases slip past my inspection and end up in my progressive press and yukks up my primer feed.

32 H&R, 6 in bbl Ruger single six.
    I shoot 32 S&W ,32 long, .32 H&R.
All cast lead , wadcutters, swc, rn, and lead balls.
I shoot at the range, in the basement and sometimes a bunny in the backyard.
I have also shot wax bullets, primer powered, and plastic bullets also primer powered .
I have made shot loads using no.12 shot using gearnasher's method.
The .32 pistol is dirt cheap, accurate, small and handy.
