GC boolits with out gas checks

Are gas checks necessary on Gc bullets? I have a mould in 8mm that has a heel for gas checks , I wont shoot it at high velocities and I dont want to incur the expence of the checks because I probably won't shoot it that often. It is an 1888 commision rifle with a .319 bore..

Check the "Classis and Sitckies" section for info on GC boolits w/o the GC. This question gets asked at least once a week.

Leave the GC off and paper patch them. Load like jacketed and go shooting.
45 AUTO! Because having to shoot someone twice is just silly!
