    38 loads

hey guys im starting to look for a mold for a 38. what i came up with is a lee 358-158-rf. looks like a good all around pill to shoot. i looked up some info on it and it looks like there is 2 powders that well look pretty well and not use a ton. one is "herco" 4grns and "universal cla" not sure what that one is at 4 grns. can anyone tell me about these powders. are they dirty or hard to work with. i will go with some thing different just want to know what you think.

    thanks jason

For faster powders you can't do any better than Bulleye or 231

For medium powders you can do any better than Unique, AA5, or Univ. Clays

That's a good boolit. I also like the 358-150-1R in my .38. Unique is about the best performer with that case in my revolvers. Make sure you use a good firm crimp - a small light revolver magnifies the recoil and can make the boolits lenghten in the cylander to the point of binding it up, then you really have to get creative.

I also like the looks of the Lee 158 RF. I have ordered a Lee six cavity mould and hopefully will have it in hand later this week. It should work well in my various .38's and also my .357 "L" frame 4".

If this were a beauty pageant, the Lee 158 RF would be up near the top

I use that mold with ww231 and cci primers. Works pretty well in my smiths.
