Cleaning sizer dies

Could any one tell me how do you clean the lube off the sizer dies?

Why would you want too? The lube keeps them from rusting, but if you must most any oil or solvent will do. I use WD-40 it helps to desolve the wax.

Heat gun will do it really quick. Set it on some newspaper and heat 'em up.

spray with carburator cleaner - disassemble - punch lube from holes if necessary with small wood dowel- wipe off with paper towel - reassemble Ordinarily, I would leave the lube on for preventing rust, unless changing lube type altogether.

Most solvents will. Why are you removing it? Are you removing old lube to exhange for new lube in your lubrisizer??

Put the die in a tin can and pour a couple inches of boiling water on it. Let it sit a couple minutes and then remove it and take out the center pin, wipe it down to dry...Ray

I just wipe them down with a paper towel to get most of the sticky mess off, then store them in the brown bottles my medications come in (after I've consumed the pills ). Those are more roomy than the containers the dies are shipped in. You may be able to buy some from Walgreens or whatever your local drug store is.

A 30 min soak in a old peanut butter jar of mineral spirits. Pull them out and wipe them down. Haven't had any rusting problems.

Wooden matchsticks are the perfect size to clean lube out of the holes in Lyman & RCBS sizing dies. When I sold my old dies, I boiled them, then cleaned out the holes as described above, then WD40'd them. It was probably more effort than it was worth for a $10.00 item, but I didn't like the idea of sending them out dirty.

I have yet to find a reason to clean them out. When changing lubes I just run in through and use the first 30 or so with a mix of both for plinking shots.

If I were to, I'd put them in the oven at about 200 in an old pan to melt most of it out, then a quick soak in a solvent of choice, followed by a blast of compressed air.

I use a WD-40 soaked shop rag and a tooth pick.

Helpful hint, if you have lube on the nose of your loaded rounds and you want to take it off. Spray a rag with WD-40 and wipe it off. works great.

I just scrape off the excess and use Hoppes #9. Works on a gun, works on a die, takes about 5 minutes.
