    Which sizer for 30 caliber??

I am casting 30-30 150 gr lee boolits. I want to use them also in a 30-06. Do I need the .311 sizer or the .309?? thanks for helping a new troop. greg

You should slug your barrels first, and measure the slugs.

Are you using a gas check design, and are you planning on using the gas checks?

[eta] Standard size would be .308 for both .30-06 and .30-30, so if the barrels are in spec, sizing to .309" would be fine

Definitely slug your bore, in everything you want to cast for. My rule of thumb is .002 over that. Doesn't matter what the flavor or caliber.

If you don't have the time to do it right, when are you going to find the time to fix it?

Another question. If I used the .311 and my bore is .308, is there any problems?? I cast size pistol and this is 'my baby step' into rifle. thanks greg

311 will be fine as long as it chambers ok. Load one and see.

I agree with mooman, in fact I think fatter is better as long as you can chamber freely.

Back when I started shooting cast in rifles, I was sizing my .30s to .309, then went to .310, now am at .311. Accuracy got better each time. In fact, I have two plainbase bullets that I just shoot as cast, lubed with LLA. They are probably running close to .312 as cast.

I'm another one that will shoot them as large as will freely chamber and extract . Most of the time it's .311 in my thirty caliber rifles .

You need to size to the throat. You must also know the bore dimensions, but the bullets must fit the throat. .311 is very common, as you have already been informed
