Has anyone on the forum been able to put together loads using the Lee 30 cal. bullet #C309-120-R, 120 gr., without the necessity of seating the bullet below the base of the case neck without modifying the chamber?

ordway, I see you too have discovered that the throat of the K-31 is short-to-non-existent. Even the Lee 113gr. "soupcan" has to be seated deeply into the case so that the action will go into battery (serial no. on bolt is in the 12 o'clock position when viewed from above). You're also about to learn that seating a CB below the neck-shoulder junction has little to no adverse effect on accuracy in many rifles, and in the K-31 in particular. For example, using Lee #C309-180R and Ly. #311291, which are ~1" long, I've seated them deeply enough to allow the bolt to close with a smart push of my hand on the bolt knob. Accuracy was 10 [of each] into 1" @ 50yds. using 22gr. AA 5744 from 2 "as issued" K-31's. Btw, I size my CB's to .309" for both rifles, but yours may prefer .308" or even .310".

Maven, I was thinking. Gets me into more trouble. Anyway, I have both #31141 &
311291 molds in the single cavity version. Yep they are kinda long in the tooth. But both have undersized noses. Neither one will cast noses with wheel weights +2% tin. Maybe they might be suitable canadates for the K-31. The molds haven't
been used in years so maybe I should dig them out and try. Frank

Frank46, Ironically, #s 311291 & -041 only perform well in my metric .30cal. milsurp rifles, e.g., the K-31 and the Finn.- Nagant M28/30 & M39, but not my .30-30 or '06. Actually, the K-31 isn't fussy at all about which CB's it likes since it will handle the Lee 113gr. "soupcan" and the 195gr. Ly. #311644 (tapered) in a most satisfying manner.

Maven, I kinda figgured that since they cast so small on the nose section that maybe just maybe I'd be able to try them in the K-31. Sure aren't good for any of my standard 30 cals. The bullets nose goes right into the muzzle up to the first driving band. My K-31 has the hob nailed boot marks all over the buttstock, and am thinking about getting another with better stock. After all one cannot have too many K-31's. Frank
