    Truck WWs

In my last bucket of WWs there were about 5 lbs of larger truck wheel weight that I sorted out separately from the others. The smallest was 2 ozs and the largest was 8 ozs. I had heard that these contain more antimony and I am trying to confirm. Does anyone have more info?

I find it difficult to believe that they have a special alloy for the larger weights.

Melt a few down and compare to your other WW alloy, thats one way to tell ....

I cant tell the difference between the truck weights and regular ones. Matter of fact, I like them more.........less clips to skim.

    mix 'em with the others

I have melted down at least 50# of these and never have noticed a difference.

I lucked into two buckets of thes last yr.

So far my Lee hardness tester hasn't seen a difference in them 12 to 14 BHN water quenched.

Not enough difference to notice in the ones I get.

Those that cast shot claim they don't make good shot. They make fine boolits though. I read somewhere that they also contained a small percentage of copper. Something to do with better holding on to the clip with a much heavier weight. The larger diameter truck tires have more centrifical force at high speeds that could tear the lead from the clip.

That's why I was thinking that they might have more antimony to make them harder.

Large truck tires actually turn slower at the same speed compared to a car.

I have been melting these for almost 30 years, never noticed any difference from car wheel weights.
