The pneumatic side of the de-rimming press

Can someone who's got their de-rimming press up and running give me a hand with the pneumatic parts (solenoid, tubing type, etc.) to help sort things out? The mechanical side was a breeze. Pneumatic, that's another story.

I've gone through DukeinMaine's video/thread and can see his set up, but when I go to the listed links for the solenoids on page 4, well heck, there they go getting all technical and stuff.

Here's what I'm looking at so far:

    The Solenoid:
    http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/...s/AVS-537D2-HL

    The Fittings:
    http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/...Elbow/ME14-14N

    The Tubing:
    http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/...inch/N14NAT100

    Will these components work?
I still need to figure out which fittings go to my air cylinder. What the heck does NPT mean?
Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Duke's the man. I believe "NPT" - National Pipe Thread (google is your friend). The fittings, tubing and solenoid should work. If you are concerned about noise, put silencers on the exhaust port from the solenoid, and if you are concerned about the speed of the cylinder, put a flow control on the out port of the solenoid to the cylinder

Yep, I just ordered the exact same stuff except I got the foot control so I can punch a hole in my hand.

Thank you for the info. My wife says my Google-Fu is weak to begin with.

Which silencers would work better? I saw bronze and plastic on the above site.

    Look at post #12 here.

That shows what and where I got my parts.
