I meant to let Mr. Graham know and to anyone else I made a valve like the one pictured a while back and it works great. I have smelted over 22 buckets of wheel-wts and can't figured how I got along with out it.

I melted a big pure lead counter weight using my weed burner for heat and got 81 6lb ingots melted and poured in 1hr and 30 min.

4 Buckets of w-wts can be melted and skimmed and poured in around 2hrs and 30 min which is roughly 80 ingots.

    Thanks again Mr Graham!!

thx axman, I worked all kinds of ideas over and over in my head til this one came through. One suggestion if I have not already made it here is to empty the last little bit of lead and pack the valve with greese if you are not going to use it for a while. Makes it easier to open next time you use it.

The valve Mr. Graham made makes very good sense, but the thing that got my attention was (is) the washer on top of the spout assembly. I think it will keep the trash on the bottom of the pot from getting under the rod so bad. I have a Master Caster, and think the washer would work on my unit, "now" how to attach it??? Thank you, Mr. Graham .

    coffee's ready, Hootmix.
