Savage .223 bolt head for a "J" series rifle, where to buy?

I picked up an old Savage single shot rifle in.223 last fall. The face of the bolt head is in less than pristine condition.

Where can I find the correct bolt head?

I'm getting conflicting info when I do multiple internet searches.

I did a serial number search awhile back and if my memory hasn't completely failed me, it's a late 70's rifle.

Nice rifle, heavy bull barrel, trigger has been massaged, target crown, solid bottom receiver and a decent walnut stock.

$410, out the door, I couldn't leave it there it looked so lonely.

From a gunshop in Ohio's Amish country, complete with a parking area for the horses and buggy's.

Stain on the stock is a bit dark, but it might be in Amish camouflage, almost black to match their Sunday go to meeting clothes.

Also check with The Gun Shack. Lots of Savage parts. https://www.gunshack.com/savage-parts

I go to their site and find what I think is the correct bolt head but I read this description:

"Notes: Later and current Savage rifles (Post 1999) use a small firing pin body."

Will this fit after opening up the firing pin hole? Can it be opened up or is it hardened?

That's where it gets confusing. Are there no other dimensional changes other than the firing pin hole?

Same with Pacific's site, if I measure mine for diameter and length is that all I need?

    I'm so confused

Didn't think of it before, I've got a 15 year old Savage in 204 Ruger, think it's time to get both rifles on the bench and disassemble both bolts.

There were comments on what needs to be modified on the old bolt to allow a new bolt head to function.

    I've got a plan
