thanks. I'll print that out tomorrow!
Appreciate the comments guys.
Hope to be handling dies and brass tonight.
finally had some bench time.
ok.. so..I used 9x19 dies..I had an old lyman 4 die set.. deprime/size, flare, seat, taper crimp.
115g berrys plated bullets good to 1200fps.
bullseye 4.8g.. should be right at 1000fps according to speer #14 manual.
nothing odd.. sized and primed and flared fine..had to adjust flare plug up a few turns.. for seating I just screwed the die body way up and dropped the plug to where i wanted the bullet seated..just to make sure in case that die did have a crimp ledge..which i think it does.. so that I wasn't crimping at all... then adjusted taper crimp die till it made contact..plus a couple turns.. used a 38 super checker..looked good.. compared to the factory "precision" brand i had..look virtually identical..got out the destroyer.. loaded the mag with a few and did a plunk check into the chamber with both mine and a factory..same result..then inserted the mag and chambered and ejected 6 rounds in succession effortlessly..just like factory..
pretty happy..thought 9x23 was going to be more of a problem...was no more a setup issue than 9x19..
Nice.
Ok..hit a range near where I work on the way in and just put a few shots on paper to see how point of aim and point of impact matched up..and to make sure there were no extraction problems or bullet migrations..etc..
Welp... I'm super happy.. free standing position, first shot dead center bull. Next shot I aimed 1" grid mark lower.. dead on again. Next shot I went for 1" grid mark higher than center and again.. dead on. Kept duplicating that. I brought both 4.7 and 4.8gr loads.. all printed good..no tumbles or fliers.. 4.8 just felt better.. 4.7 felt a little ..dunno..just less.. 4.7 should still be in the high 900's fps..and 4.8 should have put it right around 1000 fps..and that felt and shot just great.
I think I'm going to call this load worked up...at least for that 115gr berry's plated bullet and 4.8gr bullseye. Not sure how I can improve on it any. Next when I get more time I'll look at 124 gr loads and cast loads. I also have unique and w231 and AA5 powders I can experement with.
I'm at work now..so I can actually upload a picture..board won't take them from my phone for some reason..but I can send them to my PC and they upload fine...weird..go figure..
Top are my reloads..bottom are "Precision" brand factory boxer loads.

Hmm.. looking at that chart.. i think I *do* have a pound of power pistol collecting dust on my shelf..bought it by accident one time and had nothing I loaded with it..
PS..now that I'm at work I just printed all those data and articles that you guys posted for me. Thank you very much for helping with this project.
This has quickly jumped to the top of my fun-rifle list.. moreso now that i can reload for it.
I shouldn't have looked at this thread. At the last gun show here there was a nice Destroyer at what I considered a fair price and figured if I didn't find a Merrill carbine, I'd buy the Destroyer.
I didn't find a Merrill, but found something else to buy and forgot to buy the Destroyer! This thread reminded me of my oversight and now I'm mad at myself.
