    Stripper clip ID

What might these fit? I am thinking a Springfield? They are about 2.5 inches long.

They appear too thick for Mausers.

Hard to say for sure, but your guess as to the Springfield 1903 might be a good one. They had the little bend over tabs as shown on the top of the 3rd from right, which very easily broke off when the ammo was pushed into the magazine, most on the first usage.

I've got a Jillion just like that, for 1903 Springfields. Did you try a 30-06 in it, OR any other .473 head sized case from 45 ACP to 22-250 to 400 Whelen?

No, just found the box of them in some stuff I bought. Don't have a Springfield or any 06. What might they be worth, if anything?

I used to get then at 10 for a buck. These days you can probably get .50 each.

They look very similar to the clips that I have that came from 1,000 rounds of Turkish 8mm in the cloth bandaliers.

I think they were pretty generic for many military rifles.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

8mm Mauser, (7.92 mm Mauser), 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser, 30-06 Springfield, 308 and 30-06 Model 70, 7.62x51 M 14 and M1A, all use a similar stripper clip. The earlier ones are brass, some have the little tabs, later ones are steel. For some, it depends where the nubs (stops) are on the outside edge. An old hipower trick is to use the 6.5x55 Mauser strippers for 308 and 30-06 bolt action rifles. The 6.5x55 has a .480 head diameter (.473 for everything else) and the cartridges strip smoother and easier.

Most places now would fire you for weapons policy if they knew what you were looking for. If they question the Swedish stripper photos just say they're all trans and you are just being inclusive.
