Update: My new best friend, trooperdan came through with most of a set of dies for my 32. The cigar box is beginning to fill, just in time too, because I’ve got a new (to me) Texas Weaver K6 scope on the way for my 327 FM Ruger carbine. I just love it when a plan comes together!

Spoken like true enablers! You guys are largely responsible for this and it warms the cockles of an old guy’s heart. I really found the steel set of handles by the purest serendipity, but then you guys stepped in and made the whole thing happen at near blinding speed. It sure is nice to have a circle of friends, even ones you’ve never physically met! Many thanks my friends.

PS to last: I speculated previously that perhaps I could adjust this tool sufficiently to load the XX Long cases of the 327 Fed Mag with it. My house lost electricity for 22 hours ending at 5:00 this afternoon. As soon as I get everything warmed up, I may just give it a try. If my theory proves true, this just might become one of the most useful tools in my broad inventory.

Imagine taking this tool with the Ruger single shot carbine out to the range to do load testing. This is getting very close to my long held belief in just how much the good old 310 can do! The developers of Ideal reloaders had a great idea, it’s just a shame Lyman let it go!

Eating snow cream and waiting on 310 tools to arrive is a great way to spend the day .

Trooperdan, wasn’t that a 32-20 set? I saw that set, but since I had just scratched my itch (and used a bunch of my “play” money) getting the 32 S&W L set put together. The transitional steel tongs were the big value in that set. I only have one S and one L of those. Of course I got those “so I wouldn’t have to buy any more”. Yeah, right!! I hope somebody here got that set though. They looked real nice to me.

I just found a custom made steel box somebody had built for a 310 set I bought a few years ago. Now I’m conflicted as to whether this 32 set needs class or solid protection.

I was looking at that 32-20 set myself - It did look quite nice, but i just couldn't bring myself the pull the trigger on it - They come and they go ....

If I didn’t already have a size S set of transitional tongs, that woud have put me over the edge. I would have shattered my piggy bank. The 32-20 dies are pretty desirable in their own right, but as a boxed set with transitional steel handles, it was a mighty good acquisition for somebody!

Oh well, as a wise young lady once said to me, “You can’t have everything, ‘cause if you did, where would you put it?”

Boy, funny how I confused that 32-30 set with a .32 set! You are of course correct, My error! Actually, I thought it went fairly i reasonably.

You’re getting fat fingers old buddy! If it had been a 32-30, I’d have jumped on it like a duck in a June bug! Even as a 32-20 it was an attractive deal, but “you can’t have everything…”.

Actually what tempted me most was the tongs themselves. Those transitional steel tongs have been discovered it seems, and a lot of folks are after them. Glad I got mine almost by accident twenty years or so ago. The 32-20 dies were a tough set for me to find, but I’d do have a set stashed now. I’m down to 3 revolvers in 32-20, no rifles, so I guess I’ll just stand pat with what I’ve got.
    Best regards,
    Froggie

I just made an offer that was accepted on a large steel transitional set packaged with several PC's , several Lyman lube dies and several top punches. Most will end up trade fodder .

I got my S transitional set first, about 20-30 years ago, then decided I really should have a L set as well AIR, it took me about 6 months to find them. The good thing was, this was before the “gold rush” began, so I got them cheaply by today’s standards. I doubt I have more than $25 total in both sets.

Since then I’ve thought of grabbing other sets, especially as the price has climbed, but I’ve fought off the impulse. As I’ve said previously, I wanted a S and a L set so I could load anything with them. I’m not strong enough to break them, and at my age I won’t live long enough to wear them out, so I guess it’s all good here!
