I have a Stevens model 44 in 38-55 that's kind of rough. I've always wanted to figure out a way to make a 30-30 for light leads loads out of it. Only 30-30 I have now is a Springfield 840. Always considered the 30-30 to be the perfect cast bullet rifle cartridge just never had a decent rifle in that caliber to take advantage of it. I always have my eyes open for a nice single shot or a Remington 788 in 30-30 but have never run across either when I had money in my pocket.

Even with light loads I'd never make a Stevens 44 in .30-30 cartridge. You may never push it beyond it's strength, but once you're gone somebody else will likely drop a factory .30-30 load in it with bad results.
