Impressed with these Tisas 1911 pistols.

Got two of them recently and they are tight and accurate with a good finish. I cannot think of a production 1911 that beats them and that's all I have ever owned. They both came with two high quality magazines in nice hard cases. The first was a full size Stakeout model and the second an alloy framed Stingray Commander, both in .45 acp. I wanted beavertail grip safeties and upgraded sights as these are difficult and expensive to add. The Stakeout accepted Wilson upgraded parts without issue. The Stingray does not seem like it needs anything for now, excellent trigger with little over travel and fast reset. I'll stick a couple pics in later. I did put some more colorful grips on the Commander.

Yep, yep; I got the Stakeout in 38 Super with the extra bbl. and magazine for 9mm. I put in a Videcki Speed Trigger in medium length, which is my finger-length preference, and it is awesome. Really scratched the itch I had for a good-looking, 38 Super, 1911A1, with just enough extra features and not break the bank.

I’ve had my .45 Tank Commander for two years come Christmas. I have no complaints at all. I would buy another Tisas 1911 in a heartbeat.

I have had Colt, Kimber, and Ruger 1911s, and I would put my Tisas up against any of them, feature for feature. It’s not a Gold Cup, but it’s a fine pistol.

Good to see all the positives here, I've been thinking about one for quite a while.
I may have to give myself one for Christmas.

I added a Tisas Stingray in 9mm April of this year. Very nice pistol. Made very well, and functions very well with proper projectiles.
    If a 41 won't stop it, I wouldn't bet my life on a 44.

I bought a Tisa 1911 D10 bi tone used a number of years ago. It is a very nice pistol. Tight, accurate and doesn't jam. I've had a few different ones from Taurus to Colt Gold Cup but for the money I don't think you can do better.

.45 acp. The magic leaves the 1911 when you go to a different caliber imho.

A lot of people poo-poo Tisas because they're made in Turkey. Besides, they're 'cheap,' so they can't be any good, can they? I believe that in the next couple of years, you're going to see the custom 1911 gunsmiths start working on them - if they haven't already. On the 1911 Firearms Addicts forum, the general consensus seems to be that Tisas is quite possibly better quality than Colt. Current Colt 1911s are definitely hit or miss. The company's emphasis seems to be solely on their revolver line, and they figure that people will continue buying their 1911s just because, well, they're Colts!

Another point is that a top-end Tisas still sells for less than an entry-level Colt does. The Colt arguably has a better resale value because of name recognition, but that's not a reason in itself to buy one.

Psa has base model on sale for $299 with 2 mags. In 45ACP. Now that's a mightly nice price for an all metal gun, let alone a 1911. Colt? Just another name. I'd buy about 20 different brands before a colt.

What kind of accuracy are you guys getting? I'm interested in getting one, but am a bit leery of getting a blunderbuss, even if it is reliable.

I've been done buying new Colt firearms for a long time. I won't be selling my old Colt stuff, but I won't be buying anything new from them either. I carry a cheaper Kimber 1911 daily. The Tisas 1911's that we have are so far, just as good as our Colt and Kimber 1911's. Could they be tighter? Probably, but they have been extremely dependable. Compared to the Colt and Kimber pistols we have, they are just as good, maybe even a bit tighter as they are newer. My kids are more accurate shooters than I am these days so I can't go overboard on requiring extremely tight groups. The quality and machining of the parts are excellent as well. Heck, the only MIM part on the Tisas is the recoil spring plug. I'm also considering another Tisas in 10mm just for fun...

And to be fair, their customer service here state side could be a little better. They have sent the wrong parts for orders but did their best to make it up. They sent me a free magazine once even though it was for a different gun.

    Jon.
