Good Lee 6 banger 200gr. swc for 1911?

Yep, gonna start casting and loading for a 1911. I know the best swc for the 1911 was made by Hensley & Gibbs but I'd like an easy to get 6 cavity.

I like the 45 acp - 200 gr. - SWC - non-tumble lube
Lee makes the #452-200-SWC - with a traditional lube groove
#90310 - 6 cavity
#90348 - 2 cavity
I'm not a fan of the tumble lube design. I still lube with Lithi-Bee lube ... a soft lube ... but I'm sure this design could be powder coated if you choose .

The Lee 452-200-SWC is their version of the H&G 68 BB, though I'd prefer a plain based version like the RCBS 45-201-SWC, which is RCBS' version of the H&G 68.

Don't overlook the Lee 230 grain truncated cone versions. Either standard or tumble lube versions. They feed perfectly in my 1911 and are very accurate. I have a 6 banger tumble lube mold that has casted literally thousands of bullets.

I had the TL452-230-TC and it fed, mostly. With a couple of magazines I had it would hiccup, oddly, one of those was a Wilson Combat. But with others I could feel the slide going back into battery sometimes. With that, it was 100% reliable in the magazines it liked, one of which was an old military 1M291 marked magazines made by Checkmate.

Because the lee has such a Small meplat...I thought it would be a problem...Nope...all good..Tho mine no longer has a bevel base!! I dislike bevel bases!! I do use that boolit...
But, I still love the TL452 230 2r... It just Works..

The Lee 452-200-SWC without BB is a good looking bullet. I prefer plain based bullets myself.

I too have had excellent results with the Lee TL452-230-2R too. It feeds great and is accurate.

I'd be taking a look at a Mihec 6-cavity al mold. It's more $$$$, but as with anything. You get what you pay for ($74 VS $47). That Mihec bullet is a fantastic design that has proven extremely accurate.

I recently did the same, and I bought the 200gr NOE 2 cavity mold. Drops well and shoots well.
Gotten old enough I don't want any more 6 cavity molds. Even aluminum is heavy. I've a 5 cavity noe 130gr 9mm that gets real heavy.

Looks to be very similar to the truncated cone Lee uses on their TL452-230-TC bullet. If you are loading for a 1911 a 1.200 OAL would be a good place to start. This is right off the lands in my pistol and feeding is 100%.
