    1886 production '73 Winchester, 38 WCF with a black powder load running a home-cast 192 gr. FP 1402 fps.

The biggest waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who doesn't care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions.
There are people who, for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand.

Not exactly game, but was the first kill for this 32-20 model 53 Winchester made in 1925, after I restored it. I was hunting groundhogs on a state game lands, and the cat was feral and shouldn't have been there. I did shoot a couple hogs after the cat.

1884 (or maybe 1889) Stevens Favorite in .22lr. Still have it, though last time I took game with it was over 50 years ago. A couple of new screws made a marvelous difference in how well it functioned. I still have a new extractor for it I need to fit. Will be the first time I've done such work, and I'm an adult with ADD, so somewhat apprehensive about it. This was my dad's first rifle, and I and all my younger brothers and sisters except the last three learned to shoot a rifle with it. 6 of 9...

It's not where I can get a photo of it right now...

While not big game. There was an old eastern arms 410 in the cabinet. I both my brother and I learned to hunt with it along with most of the cousins and a few neighbors children its been all over the area in many hands. Its taken a pile of rabbits, squirrels, woodchucks, quail, Pheasants, along with barn pigeons black birds and other animals. For a non discript simple single shot its had a very long full life.

I posted lever action not what you took with it just "game".

What a great bunch of lever actions still putting meat on the table. Nice to see people out there keeping the old guns working in the field

I shot a deer with my 1865 Spencer Carbine. I was surprised it went through from front to end at 50 yards.

I'm sure enjoying this thread.. I think veeman, that he means its cool whether you use a rimfire or centerfire, and any kind of game.. just the oldest that you've used. And it is great to see all of the vintage firearms still taking game. Keeps the hunt in hunting for sure!
Shrapnel- is that one of the Walter Cooper Sharps? ( I see there is a Walter Cooper Sharps coming up at a RIA auction- I'm sorely tempted)--- great picture..
fiatdad- the buffalo was a little less than 70 yards and the 390 grain heeled bullet broke a rib on the way in and one on the way out. it poked a big ol' hole through both lungs and the heart. She took a couple hops and flopped over. Here's a couple more (but with Spencer 56-50) buffalo pics, one is my youngest son Colton with his ArmiSport carbine( not that old, early 2000s I think) and the other is oldest son Zac with originalClick image for larger version.

ID:	332570 1865 Spencer that had been converted by some frontier gunsmith to a heavy barreled sporter in 56-50. bore was really rough so I had it relined by Bobby Hoyt. Colton's was just inside 100 yards, and Zac's was over 125. both were pass throughs shooting just behind the "elbow" double lung and heart or close to heart shots..
That heavy, rather short for caliber bullet sure penetrates well.

Oldest lever gun I’ve used to take game is this Marlin 1892 chambered in 32 Colt that dates from 1910:

At iron sight ranges it’s extremely effective on small game, that 80 grain bullet at 1000 fps is as good a killer as the 22 WMR without all the damage to meat.

Yup. Doesn't matter rimfire or center and the type of game is irrelevant just that's it's a lever action
