I have a good friend that tried it at a wild game dinner. He said it was very good and would eat it again. Me, nope, not interested. I would cook it up and feed it to my dogs. Protein is protein and it's a shame to waste wild game.

Nope ain’t gonna happen! Plenty of things that actually tase good. I would no more eat a coyote than I’d cram a bamboo pole up a buzzard’s but out it’s beak and roast it for Thanksgiving dinner!

No predator meat ever. Not while there's a Kroger's half an hour from the house

In the early70's fur prices for prime Montana pale coyotes were over $300, average was $250. Everyone I knew could skin one and do so with no knife cuts on the pelt.

Brother ate some at a trappers convention. It was made into sausage.

For those who rule out eating predators, be sure to exclude, chicken, turkey, fish & pigs. Lets not be hypocritical.

I used to subscribe to this idea. But that salmon, sailfish, and shark in the display case at Kroger are all predators, and they're mighty tasty. As far as wild game; bear, raccoon, and turtle are wonderful if they're cleaned properly. But coyotes??? I'll pass. If I have to give a reason, maybe because I don't want to be accused of dressing out the neighbor's dog.

I'm in a part of the country where possums and armadillos are eaten regularly, but I've never heard of anyone having 'yote for dinner.

I remember reading a story about old time trappers telling about what the ate during a very cold winter to keep from starving. The beaver ran out, and all they caught where fox and coyote. They said the fox was good, but only ate the coyote if there was nothing else.
I think coyote would be at the bottom of my list as well! Got a wild game dinner to attend tonight. I'll keep my eye out for coyote poppers.

My mom bequeathed to me a coffee table book, if you can believe it, on coyotes. The author said that in the winter juniper berries made up a large part of their diet. I imagine it would leave a rather distinctive taste.

They make a great pelt when processed properly, especially in the winter. Just about perfect for a collar on a coat.

I trapped 9 coyotes this season . All on boards to dry and then sell. The one I sell to told me keep the feet on them. I get more for them . The market is low . I do it for a hobby. The pelts in Montana and places around there is higher price pelts because the fur is better.

6-8 coyote pelts sown together make a really warm throw for a couch or chair... lined with garment grade deer skin... I made a small one from a coyote that attacked a little girl and gave it to her and told her it is her revenge on that mean coyote, she gets to wear his fur in winter and be warm. She is now in college and took it with, she hangs it on her wall now...

I have eaten cougar made into breakfast sausage.
With the seasonings, you could not tell it from pork.

When I was growing up, the old folks used to say any land animal which was primarily a carnivore shouldn’t be eaten, so cats and canines were off limits. Herbivores were preferred and omnivores were usually acceptable. One of my uncles ate raccoons regularly, even though they can carry rabies. Of course, those people were a bunch of old German squareheads so I wouldn’t take it to the bank…LOL
