I have had various Ruger Amercians gen 1s, compacts, rifles etc, never could get one to feed 100% of the time, about 80% was as good as it got with any of them. A buddy has a 270 that feeds flawlessly. I had gotten a Ruger auto .22 pistol that was not up to snuff at a local gun shop, took it back and he gave me a great trade on the Ruger with a threaded barrel and a Sig Whisey 3x9x40 with BDC reticle, due to the previous owner doing a flectar pattern camouflage with sponges and grey, white and putty color on the black stock, I thought it looked pretty good but he wanted rid of it badly. Anyway I ended up with about$350 in the rig, came home and got the trigger down under #3, loosened the scope rings up and straightened it up, and moved it back about 3/4" in the rings. With my 75 gr blitz king handloads at 100 yds it cut 3 shots together overlapping, a little over a inch to the rightI clicked it 6 clicks left and fired 3 more into the same pattern, 3 bullets all overlapping, on zero. Then I tried my 100 gr handload and they shot a cloverleaf under 1/2". That's as good as this old boy can do with a 3x9 scope. I think this will be my new beater truck gun, it is a good shooter and not a ton of money in it. I had sworn off of these rifles but I finally got one that feeds slick as slobber.
