    What did you shoot today?

I was doing a little cleaning and looking in the safe and decided that I would shoot my refinished Marlin 39AS. I had sent it off after it had gotten wet from storm damage(it already had a few freckles as it was). I made the decision to replace and upgrade the stock with some fancy walnut and have the receiver color case hardened. Talk about a stunner, of course it is too pretty to drag through the woods, but it may make it out for a blue bird day squirrel hunt. I loaded 10 rounds in the tube mag and just plinked. It sure was fun to run a few through the lever gun.

Next up was another fun favorite, A Winchester Model 63 that came to me a few years ago. I always like the little trim semi auto. It shoots great. I only ran cci standard velocity ammo and it dumped the empties about 3 feet to the right. good ejection but not beating up the old girl.

Anyway, what did you shoot today that hasn't been out of the safe in a while?

Would love to see pictures of that marlin. I have a 73 model golden 39a. Love that gun. But I didn't shoot it today. I had a hour or so to be able to shoot so I grabbed my go to rimfire pistol. Taurus tx 22 comp.

I built a rifle from a 12/15 Martini target rifle by shortening the barrel by 8” making a new forend and milling the barrel for a Weaver style scope mount. The first time I shot it I used all of the Bushnell Prime’s elevation adjustment to get it to zero at 50 yards. Yesterday I removed the scope and the wood forend and heated the scope mount that I mounted a 20” long bar that was 1” dia. in the rings and with just hand pressure I was able to bring the scope mount into a more parrelel plane with the bore. Today I shot it again at 50 yards and after about 9 rounds I had it zeroed and shot a 5/8” group @ 50 yards.
This was with some cheap ammo so I am pretty sure it’s got a lot of improvement when I get to experiment with other 22 RF ammo and find what it likes. It still weighs about 8 1/2 lbs. w/ scope but for me it much more manageable than the 29” barrel it had originally.

That looks like a great way to collect some squirrel meat!

That’s what I plan to do sometime soon. I haven’t had a good meal of squirrels in nearly 10 years and lately that’s all I have been thinking about. I also want to get out rabbit hunting also as that’s another hunting I haven’t done for years. In MI to hunt deer you have to buy a general hunting license and then buy your deer tags and I got to thinking I don’t really get any use from the general license so I need to get out and get some small game meat.

Today was the anti-Black Friday shoot at gun club #3. Indoor range, so semi-toasty. It was run what ya brung day on steel plates. Anything below magnum calibers.

I took my Uberti model Winchester 1873 clone and a Ruger New Model Vacquero in 45 Colt. Both took down the plates with authority.

Had a hotrodded 10-22 and a Mark II. They never came out of the case I was having too much fun with the 45 Colts. Lyman 452488 shot well out of both with recycled CCI magnum large pistol primers and Winchester 230P powder.

I played “Chase the bullet hole” today on cardboard for 30 rounds with my Ruger Wrangler using Federal bulk ammo. I actually caught the bullet hole a few times!

Shot the S&W Victory with the Bushnell reflex sight on it. It's in regular rotation with the 9mm's. I never used any red dot or reflex sights before but it sure helps with aging eyes especially dry fire practice. I've been able to keep my shots on the 5" gong at 25yards but more a pattern than a group. Today I had 8 shots that weren't in the middle but 42 that went into a 2" group. I'm getting there. The reason I bought the Victory is it shoots SV ammo without having to do any spring swapping and has a decent stock trigger. All stock except for a Tandemcross grip that came with it and the Bushnell reflex sight. Another fun pistol to shoot along with the 9mm herd.

Just got this 1960s Marlin Glenfield M-75 "repaired", it had never been cleaned.... Never seen one this old before, 8 round tube, no cut for loading, no finish on the metal, but once it was cleaned, it still worked just fine.
