I used just one 000, three #1, etc.

    Right on!

That’s unfortunate that the chronograph isn’t compatible.

    How did they pattern?

Haven't been there yet. Next I'll chrono it on my skyscreen chrono, then check pattern. As it is intended for less than 50 feet use, I expect it to be tolerable. What's the rule about the shot cluster opening up one inch per yard of distance?

I was able to Chrono the load today on my optical unit, and adjust the charge. I suppose this would be called a quadraplex load.

25 grains of Universal (medium burning powder)
    Fiocchi straight-walled clear 12g 2-3/4" pre-primed hull. MG42 wad.

    one 000 buck 70gns
    two #1 buck 40gns ea
six #4 buck 20 gns ea
the rest: #2 shot 5 gns ea -- Total shot 500 grains (a bit more than 1-1/8oz)
    Two thin cards atop shot.

1245 fps out of a 19" 11-87 barrel. Next I'll check pattern at 30 feet.

Looking forward to your pattern test results!

Did you sprinkle the #2 in as you were placing the buckshot pellets? I’d love to see see the order you placed everything in the wad.

The long thicker petals of the MG42 wads have given me dense patterns. If you have extra test loads, I wouldn’t mind seeing what your pattern results are at 20 or so yards too.

This is the pattern at 30 feet - about what I expected - it opens fast with 19 inch barrel and no choke -
