I friend bought a Henry lever gun in 357 Mag.
How do these rifles feed SWC bullets crimped in the crimp groove?

They will feed, just not smooth. They like to get hung up. I recommend the 358665
Don't know for sure with the 357, but my 41 mag feeds just about everything I have tried quite well.

I have found my 41mag Henry BBS will feed SWC ammo well, if the length correct. I imagine the 357mag will do so as well.

My Henry’s will feed SWC’s just fine if I keep the COAL to 1.61” or less. This is with 357 or 44 Mag.
My Henry 357 Magnum feeds SWC fine when set to the standard COL for the particular bullet. I mostly use the Lyman (Ideal) 358-156 and the RCBS 38-162 (both gas-checked).

Reliability is a function of COL. With all my leverguns I adjust the COL for the most reliable smooth feeding. I am running a WFN in my 45 Colt the meplat is huge it feeds very well. Many bullets are designed around the revolvers (handguns) they are made for. So sometimes I have to ignore the crimp groove.
As has been stated above, COL affects feedability. I have a WC bullet that if crimped in the crimp groove puts around 5/16" of the boolit outside the case. In a .357Mag case it feeds just fine.
