MC2500 oil and TW25B grease. I first started in the '80s when I went for some training on M61 Vulcan guns at the GE factory in Vermont when GE still made the guns. GD makes them now. Anyway, the techs and engineers there recommended the Mil-Tec products.
They had a remarkable range that I think they shared with National Guard. The backstop was a whole mountainside.

Stainless and 1911s I use fp10. For 1911s in general, tw25b in a 10-1 alcohol solution and miltec or fp10 when it gets a little dry.

Rem oil for wipe down. Any MDL (Moisture displacing oil (post bluing or parkerizing oil) for long term wipe down, Brownells action plus lube on trigger mechonisms.

Kroil patch prior to cleaning 22 LR bores or rusted nuts, screws and bolts.

Renaissance Wax for wet weather hunting.

Boolits, ho-made Ben's Red or Felix lube.

I remember LSA as a thick white semi fluid that the FC's used on the CIWS. I won't say what they called it, this is a family friendly site.

But the gallon jugs we got of Breakfree had about 3/4-1" of loose white particles that settled in the bottom fairly quickly and di need shaking to redistribute.

Foul smelling stuff. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

Yah, I remember what they called it back in the day! The stash I was "donated" (by an old unit armorer) will separate out to about 50/50 white goo and carrier fluid.
Rights, and Privileges, are not synonymous. We have the Right to Bear Arms. As soon as the Government mandates firearm registration, and permiting, then that Right becomes a Privilege, and may be taken away at our Master's discretion.

I'll throw this one in the mix. Synthetic two stroke oil. It's around 30 weight, and doesn't give me a headache if it smokes a little. I use it on molds too.
It's only hubris if I'm wrong.

    Ed's Red Gun Oil

    50/50 mix of
Dexron III ATF (conventional Not synthetic) and K-1 Kerosene (odorless)

That gives you a great CLP - cleaner , lubricant & protectant !

I used Emmett's for years, switched to SPG recently. I might try their 'tropical' lube next.

Years ago I read in the owners manual that RCBS recommended regular gun oil for the press. I've been doing that and never looked back. So all the presses get lubed with standard gun oil. Zero issues.

I keep it pretty basic for guns too. Either regular Hoppes gun oil or Lucas Oil gun oil. I like the needle applicator of the Lucas Oil bottles.

I do wipe down the exterior of guns with Ballistol.

This is what I use mainly. I use it on my guns and boolit molds.

20 replies and only two the same!!! Yep, this is just like asking what oil is best for your car. I might as well add in another one, I just picked up two quart size cans of military Molybdenum grease, I plan on using that for the action on my Garands.

I don't use this on my firearms because it tends to get tacky but it's great on my molds after they cool down and are going back to storage.

I started using Ed's Red some 5 years ago and have no complaints with it. Factory cleaner and oil is ridiculously priced these days. my experience anyway, james

Just to be clear, Ed's Red is not a gun oil. It is a solvent.

The Kerosene and Odorless Mineral Spirits are different types of solvents which act on different things. This is one reason why Ed's Red works well.

The Ed's Red compatible oil I use is a 50/50 mix of ATF and whatever type of full synthetic oil I happen to have on hand. Typically 5w30, but it really doesn't matter.

Ed's Red, but I like Lanolin on the moulds for longer term storage.
