    Older Sheridan

I inherited a 60 year old Sheridan silver air rifle that will no longer pump up to a useful charge. Does anyone repair these?

Baker Airgun, Mt. Victory Ohio is probably the first place to try.

But before that, have you tried cocking the air rifle before pumping?

Some of the older ones had to be cocked before pumping. A buddy bought one for $5 at a garage sale because it was "busted".

Through trial and error, he figured out the cock before pump routine.

    He was pretty happy.

H&N used to make a match pellet for them. They come up on fleabay occasionally, they are worth tracking down.

I'll post the number if I remember to dig out my stash.

H&N match pellets dropped group size by half.
    .

Williams also made a peep sight that was a direct screw on for the newer Silver Streaks. You might want to look into one of those also.

Might have to drill and tap the receiver for it on an older rifle.

Google Blue Streak Sheridan air rifle repairs. There a ton of places that over haul Sheridans.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Be my guess the leathers are dried out.
Should be able to figure it out, or you can pay to have someone else figure it out.
What it always comes down to, doesn't it?

I repaired mine using a kit that had some “O” rings and excellent instructions, and I try to never get in over my head “practicing“ gunsmithing. Baker sounds familiar, but I found a company on the “web” for parts. (Mine will only pump up if cocked first.)

Put a few drops of 3/1 oil in the cylinder. Mine had a small hole above the piston for this purpose to keep the letter soft. I had one of these rifles back in the 60's.

Saw a trick on youtube putting alcohol in them. Brought my 70's vintage Benjamin back to life. Takes a bit of pumping and dry firing
    but mine holds air again.

A google search of "Blue Streak Repair Kit" comes up with a good array of options if you are inclined to fix it yourself. I picked one up from a pawn shop that didn't hold a charge for almost nothing. $30 for a repair kit and it is as good as new. The 20 cal is lethal on squirrel.
