    Heavy rain will stop microwaves.
A thunderstorm overhead here will stop Dish TV for 10 minutes.
That is how we get an inch of rain in 10 min in the desert.

They had to run fiber over the entire town, and they were upgrading 4-5 towns at a time... it got done when it got done... they only have so many workers.

They were upgrading their entire service area... 4-5 small towns at a time got fiber pulled to the houses. Takes time when you look at how much area they cover... western MN, eastern ND, SD, and even into IA a bit... so it got done in stages. When they got fiber to the main office in town DSL speeds all jumped up to where I could stream 1080p... now I can stream 4k and do stuff on the computer and not slow it down!

We just set up our new Starlink kit a couple days ago and it has been a night and day improvement over what we had before. No option for high speed anything in our area. We were stuck using an AT&T wireless hotspot plus a cell signal booster and it was terrible. I feel it’s still too early to give an official verdict but we are seeing unbelievably fast speeds with Starlink. Breezy set up and the app works well too. So far so good!

I can’t believe the prices that I’m seeing people paying for Starlink. When it first became available here, it was €100/month. Six months later they dropped the price and we only pay €40/ month for unlimited. The speed may have gone down some, but it’s always fast enough for any streaming or downloading that I need. Usually, everything is more expensive here. My son in Alaska says there’s a premium version for business that may be faster but costs a lot more. Is that the version some of you are paying for?

Yup, we pay $120 a month for residential and I think the equipment was about $500. We were waiting on the list for almost two years if I remember correctly. Still worth it to us.
