Rant: Making Simple Upgrades More Expensive

Several years ago, I customized my PTR91 (semi auto HK G3 clone, for those who don't know), in a variety of ways, which increased its' utility for me. One of those was a simple change to the front sight insert, going from a blade to a chevron. After shipping, it cost me $30, but there was only a single source and it really improved the rifle, so I was happy. Recently I decided to buy another for my back-up rifle. Lo-and-behold, the manufacturer has released a 2nd generation, which is much fancier. The original sight has been discontinued. Now the new model looks very nice, however, it is now SIXTY DOLLARS!. Why not offer the cheaper model as well?Tons of people out there want "the best", so I am sure the gen two would also sell. I simply cannot stomach paying so much for a front sight insert. I've included pictures of the items in question. Click image for larger version.

So......why not sell your sight for $30, buy the new sight for $60, only be into it for the original $30?

That's pretty shrewd, but it would still leave me needing a second sight for my spare rifle.

Find a CNC laser, probably get a pocket full for $60 but them you would need to paint them.

Honestly, I think that I will try to do that. It's a pretty simple part.
