Just wondering how some of us think.

I do a lot of .38s, but .45ACP is the biggie for me.
I'm a middle of the road guy.
They work well, killing those little black paper dots just as dead as a full house load,
and don't put unnecessary stress on the gun.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Middle of the road for me most of the time for handguns. For 45 ACP I like 230 grain RN at something over 800 ft/sec - that more or less duplicates full power but is still mild to shoot.
All depends on purpose , target or plinking loads I start low and work to the sweet spot, hunting loads are worked up to accuracy plus penetration plus bullet expanding , self defense reliability, penetration accuracy .
I choose Post #4 and Post #5. Poll doesn't have that option.
You don't have a option for: It depends on what use I'm putting the round to. If competition, is handling speed needed over pin-point accuracy; for hunting or social work, I prefer accuracy & penetration over pure fps. And different cartridges meet those goals at different places along the velocity spectrum for that particular cartridge.

I picked I don't care because I usually start just above min and work until I get an accurate load. The I work up till I'm 10% below max book for my masochistic loads. You know those that want to rip your thumb off!

I work up the load to the gun in question the best accuracy wins. For my competition loads in High power service rifle I duplicated M852 since it was what was issued for leg matches.
Its surprising to work the numbers with a ballistics program for a given bullet and see the velocity increase needed to shave 1 moa wind or 1 moa elevation off a load at 600 yds.
Middle of the road for me. Steel plates and paper are my usual targets. I have loaded and shot buckets of 45 ACP loaded to IPSC Major - H&G #68 and Blue Dot.
Not all who wonder or wander are lost.
I like to wring things out.
I try to get the best internal ballistics, accuracy, and velocity.
I change primers, powder, powder weights, different seating depths anything that comes to mind.
Then go to a different bullet and start over.
Right now I'm working with a 350 Legend it was a struggle until I changed out the barrel.
Those who choose violence as a first option are typically confronted by somebody else using violence as a last resort.

My thinking is that accuracy is #1 across the board
#2 hunting I choose a powders that give the most velocity and are still accurate ( that is what you can find and afford )
#3 silhouettes I don't like to get beat up ( hands , wrist or shoulder ) I need a load that comfortable to shoot 40 - 50 rounds but is accurate and still gets the job done .

I think better wording could have changed the results significantly.
I know I did not vote because I did not feel any of the answers applied to me.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.
Get right with the Lord.
Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.
Never pick a fight with an old man - if he is too old to fight he will just kill you -
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
praise glorious!
I'll do middle of the road for blasting ammo. For serious ammo, it's all about accuracy. So whatever the gun/bullet combo needs.
I'm going to say "normal loads". What, to me, is a normal load? Non-+P factory level loads. Something a little less than maximum in the reloading manuals.

You'd be surprised how many people who are just getting into reloading go straight for the max charges they find on the internet. I have seen more than one gun ruined because of over pressure. I myself take the start charge and make a 5 step loading chart going from starting to max load. That was the way I was taught. I have found that max loads are usually not the most accurate.
