New load in the 03-A3 at a match.

Shot a military cast bullet bench rest match last Sunday. Tried a new load I have worked on a little bit in my Rem. 03-A3 issue rifle. PPU brass. WLR primers. 20 grains VV N110 powder. Saeco 315 gas checked bullets. This is a 100 yard 10 shot target. Just a little more dialing in and I think I have it.

What is the 10-shot group diameter? 2 inches is great. Any shots called out?
Would like to know more about the rifle - two groove or four groove barrel? Scope?

2 clicks right and 2 clicks down and the Score will dramatically increase with same group size according to my non-calibrated eyeball.

VV130 is slower than 4198 and a tad faster than 3031 according to a burn rate chart. The Saeco 315 is a 175 gr TCGC with 5 lube grooves. Depending on your lube, you could probably go as high as 25 grains without blowing the group size.

I don’t know. With the military issue peep sight used in the 03-A3 two clicks is a lot of movement. Not the most precise like a Finn M39.

As issue. No scope. As issue everything including sights. 5/43 four groove barrel. The whole rifle is May ‘43 w/ the exception of the replacement military WWII circa stock.

    I’m using N110 not N130. 21 grains w/ the N110 started to open up.

I should have taken a pic of the 200 yard target. 87 2x. Not bad considering I just tried 19,20,21 grains of N110 w/ that bullet then quickly decided to try 20 grains(it was the tightest of the 3) and shoot a match w/ it. Now to go out by little bits high and low from 20 grains and see what it can do.

Yes, I see it now in the chart. N110 is faster than H-110, my favorite powder for .44 magnum. My post didn’t apply. A thousand gomens.

If you need a vertical adjustment just a bit lower than the sight detent will give you, you can put a shim under the front of the peep sight. I used some shims made from feeler gauge. I had gauges of .008, .010, and .012. Put your thumb on the peep sight and press down and slip a gauge under the front to lower the impact on the target. This allows you to use the same sight picture. The spring holds the shim in place but I usually made sure to look at it every few shots to make sure recoil did not move it forward.
I had a Lyman aperture on the front making it a lot easier to get vertical adjustment. I have an issue 1909 Argentine and it drives me nuts trying to keep the same hold on a target. Older eyes suck.

Nice shooting M1fuzz, looks like around a 2" group.

Can you divulge more on the load, bullet alloy/weight, seating, that kind of thing.

Been aching to try this with a bunch of Lyman 311141's I got in the spring.
