A friend of mine has a full sealed tube of 10......way out of my price range even if he were to sell it!

Thanks for the pictures. I have never seen this before. I have seen some pictures of rifles with the cap feeder on the lock. This item is quite small right. Not much bigger than toy cap gun caps? Sometimes putting a coin or other known object in the picture for scale is nice.

These were standard on the 1855 rifled musket with the Maynard Tape Primer, the First Model Maynard carbine, and several other firearms of that time frame. The tape primer worked fairly well, and if you didn't have any tape primers, standard winged percussion caps worked just fine. I owned Edward Maynard's personal copy of Ordnance and Gunnery by J G Benton for a time, it was interesting to read his thoughts on his systems, and the systems of other inventors. That copy ended up with Dean Thomas of Thomas Publications, and he reprinted it, Maynard comments and all.
