Adapter to allow Lyman style lube size dies in reloading press

There are other threads that have approached the issue of using lyman/rcbs style dies in a single stage press. most of my bullets are now PCed and I am moving away from my 450 lube sizer. buddy with a lathe machined a 7/8"-14 bolt I gave him to hold a sizing die. using a Lee push thru rod in the ram of my press. press is upside down bolted to my bench. very fast in this orientation. air cylinder for force and a collator and shuttle to auto size is in the works. Now that I have confirmed that this works well, will turn the first 1/2" of the threads to match the diameter on the lee push thru bullet sizing die. I connect hose on to this diameter down to a bucket on the floor to capture the sized bullets. the sizing diameter on the Lyman is longer than the Lee. the lee pusher does not push the bullet all the way out. I just drop a second bullet in and the lower bullet falls into the hose.

picture shows the sizing dies not all the way in. there is a 45 deg shoulder that the dies goes against with the top surface flush. o-ring has about 3 pounds of force to remove. set screw just to be sure it stays in.

I could not find anyone making these currently. My buddy said he would look at making in batches of 5 or 10 if there was any demand. Let me know if you are interested.

If you have a Lyman or RCBS sizer and dies you can remove the stop bolt from the sizer and just push the boolits out the bottom of the die.

Making an adapter looks like a lot of work considering that a Lee push through sizer is pretty cheap and will basically do the same thing.

    Bigfoot Tech makes them.

Also, I recall someone here experimenting using a Lee 'rifle' FCD body (with internals removed) as an adaptor.

Going to a piece of threaded rod would allow for the original nut to be used with the sizing die.
I have a push thru lube sizer from Old West moulds that also has a lube pump on it for use in a reloading press.

I made up something similiar to this but used round stock and threaded it my self. Drilled and bored it out to hold Lyman/RCBS sizer dies. Instead of a set screw I just use the origional O ring to hold the die in place. I make up my own push rods and use the set up in a Co Ax press. Works pretty well for me. I will use my regular sizer to seat gas checks and then push them through the die.

The Lee APP press and the sizer dies made for it work so slick I really intend to use that method any time I need to size a PC or other bullet type.
They make about any dia I could ever think of wanting or needing....

    https://leeprecision.com/app-bullet-sizing-kit

and they are $8.99 each at Titan and I am sure others...the customs might be $11.99

Article on Castpics in how to make them.
Easy way it to go to a gun show and look in the dealers junk die boxes. Find the RCBS aluminum die bodies. May take a little works but they're darn near the right size. Take a Lee shell holder, aneal and drill and tap for the pucher rod. I used 5/16X24 bolts. Get right length bolts from ACE Hardware and turn heads down with file and electric drill to desire diameter. Anythig smaller than .308 get somebody with a lathe. I have about 5 pusher rods that does the whole spectrum. Look at the article. Lot of pics. You'll get the idea. Posted courtesy of me and Orygun Mark (lef the range)./beagle
