I loaded and shot a few Lee 356-147-TC PC with the bottoms coated with baked on header paint.

1.055" OAL
2.2gr TiteWad



10 shots at 25yds


The base PC is intact under the burnt header paint. I rubbed this with paint thinner to clean off the header paint


My quietest load by far with that tiny powder charge.

It's about as loud as just the action cycling with this load. About as quiet as it can get until you go with a lever gun or single shot

I have a bit of H110 and lil'gun and I have not seen any loads that will work well in 32's, 38's, or 9x19. Also in 12 ga.
They seem to like .410, 28 ga, 300 blkout, 30 US car, and magnum pistol cartridges. Well got Winchester WST, a lb of unique, bullseye, green dot, universal clays, 800 something or other, 2400, and maybe another lbs of something else for shotgun and standard pistol rounds. For my 40 to make black bear loads I am saving my longshot powder.

Im loading it in 45acp at 7.5gr under a precision delta jacketed 230gr RN. So far so good. My two Son's and I were out Friday afternoon and the 3 of us ran thru 500rds. Im using a Lyman 55 powder measure up on a turret press to measure the drops. I keep the powder measure over half full, and from swinging thru the stations the drops are fairly consistent. I do get a little extra weight here and there, usually about half a tick or 1/20 of the drop weight. As long as none of the drops are short then I call it good to go. I stop and measure every drop to start and then usually every fifth drop on the balance scale until Im certain what the drop looks like in the case. Primer used on these rounds was a Magtech 'brass cup' LPP I picked up from the recent Brownell's Reloading sale. As the sun was moving down the horizon yesterday, I was noticing a little flash out of my old Colt 1911. I believe this powder was sold as a close cousin of IMR Blue but recipe data is hard to come by. Im a full grain under the 8.5gr weight listed on the container. A two liter water bottle at 50 yards has no chance!

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like you have it working for you.

American Reloading is the only source for this powder and are in the biz of disassembling ammo so their powders most likely come from the disassembled cartridges.

Thank you for the welcome. Had an old friend stop by and when he looked at this powder in my measure he says to me; Sure looks like Unique? Having not used Unique before I didnt know what Unique looked like. Goes on to tell me that Lee Reloading issued some kind of warning against using Unique thru their drops?

I hear you about the pull down aspect, but there is way too much of this. American Reloading has been selling 5 pound bottles of this powder for a couple of months now.

I never used blue dot before and it was never a popular powder but looking at some old free Alliant loading manuals they have data for Blue dot for most pistol rounds. Studying it some it does seem like Blue dot / MP2whatever are best for upper end loads. I would say .45ACP minimum.

And reading more about blue dot people complain it also meters poorly and some people say it meters like Unique. Looking back, while I do like unique it does meter poorly and I always had a lot of drift on my dillon 550. But I am slightly on the anal side of constantly checking.......

IIRC the Lee warning was regarding the Auto Disc measure from loads under 5.0 grains because the cavity gets so narrow the large flakes don’t settle evenly. I saw this first hand. The cavity remains the same height so volume varies by the diameter. Ball powders are no problem.

I also wanted to add that MP254 looks nothing like Unique. It is large circular flat flakes and Unique is square smaller flakes.

Unique did not meter well in my Perfect Powder measure(I rapped it to get good drops) but meters perfectly in my Auto-Drum. MP254 doesn't meter well in any of my 3 drops but is usable if I rap the PPM 4x up and 4x down.

My Drum wouldn't meter. The PPM does OK with rapping the body up and down

Lee 358-125-RF 5.0 g or more of Herco.
It is a little bit dirty but shoots well. Besides, I have 20 lbs of it.
There are load tables for it in older books.
I have been using it in 9mm loads (also .357mag, 45acp, 38sp, 12GA) for 60 years.
