    I too read all of the statements about the Competition Match, I believe that the gunpowder used has more to do with it than case design. A couple of years after the competition match became popular there was a burn temp chart that was making the rounds and it listed the H1000 that the CM shooters used as one of the lowest flame temp powders that could be found. I don't remember all the powders listed but I had changed to VV165 for accuracy and velocity reasons on my 6.5-284 (a notorious barrel burning cartridge) and found VV165 to be right next to H1000 on the chart. I had tried H1000 in the beginning and could not get enough powder in the case to make speed and I didn't want 260 Remington velocities. VV 165 gave me both. I haven't shot it a whole lot lately but it's still on it's original Shilen barrel.
