    Numrich Stevens Favorite Barrel

Banging around the Numrich site, I see they have a Stevens Favorite 22LR "new" replacement barrel for about two hundred bucks plus shipping.

Anyone on here ever tried one of these? and if so what was your experience. If worthwhile, I would like to put one on an 1894 in 25 Stevens.

I did a site search and can't seem to find any info. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with 25 Stevens cartridge, but it seems that there might be a problem with firing pin placement on 22 vs 25 cartridges, unless both are rimfire with the same diameter rim.. jd
It seems that people who do almost nothing, often complain loudly when it's time to do it.

I have read that the 25 Stevens and the 22 is the same breech block and so the .22 lr will work. I’m a sure someone will be along shortly to afferm that.

Seems like an easy conversion for someone with a mediocre amount of mechanical skill.

That would be an easy fix, just knurl it or bush it.

There is also shank length difference I recall the 1894 is a bit shorter than the 1915.

I bought one of those barrels years ago for my 1894 favorite, and had to send it back. It was for a later model favorite, and would not fit. They may stock both now, but I would call and insist on talking to someone who knows.

The one I bought way back when was a straight shank for a 1915 Favorite. The only description in the catalogue was “Favorite Barrel Replacement,” no model specified.

I think there may have been some very late 1894s that had the same straight shank, but the 1894 action I had didn’t work with it at all.

You might contact Numrich or Gun Parts Inc or whatever they are these days and ask for the shank dimensions before buying.

Yeesh; 200 scoots for a Favorite barrel! I think mine cost $60 or so.
