    what mag fits Beretta 92?

hi ya, my friend gave up his mags to the mag monitor because they were over the legal limit. now how to get him some good 10 round ones?
his gun is a older knock off Beretta compact 92.
p.s. he should have head examined; oh he did. he had brain surgery

    much obliged, max

HI Ya, I probably needed to clarify. The 92 and the 92FS are not the same config. His took a 12 round, my FS takes the 10 round. I dont think mine fits his gun. I'm really looking for some here who has the older 92 style and uses the newer FS mags. I guess I will have to bring my mag to his place or meet at the range and try it.
    Much obliged, Max

    Max:

From the GMW ad text that I posted in #2 above:

"Beretta factory magazines are engineered to meet the same strict standards as your original equipment mags, ensuring optimum fit and function with your Beretta 92FS pistol. Also compatible with 92S, 92SB, M9, M9A1, Vertec, Brigadier, Centurion, Elite pistols, and CX4 carbines."

From that I interpret the ad as saying these mags have the "fingernail cutout" window on the bottom right to permit retention in the Model 92 with its mag release button in the bottom of the left side grip panel:

Note the "fingernail cutout" window in the bottom rear of the right side of the mag in the image above for the Early Model 92, in addition to the standard trigger guard mag catch "windows" a bit more than halfway up the right side of the mag in the image, for the later models.

But maybe you should contact GMW yourself to be sure.

    Knock off?
So, if it is not a Beretta who made it? Taurus?

Whoops, I missed the "knock off" part. The Beretta mag I suggested may not fit, and will not fit if the gun's a Taurus.

    Good catch, elmacgyver.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, also said "compact", does that mean a shorter grip?
I have the 92S that has the button in the grip heel. Those ten rounders would work in mine, but I'm not limited to ten rounds.
I modified a couple mags with a Dremel tool to work in my pistol.

Mec Gar manufactures the OEM factory magazines for A LOT of handguns. I would start by studying their options.

Your friend may have to modify a Beretta pattern mag to fit the Taurus magazine catch. . .which would be significantly easier if he had an original mag to use as a template.
