    Forming 6.5 Grendel

I came across some 220 Russian stamped brass, looks like it was converted to 6mm PPC.

My question is can this be simply fireformed to 6.5 Grendel or best to just keep it as 6mm PPC to prevent "overworking" the brass being that it's already been converted once?

Interesting question. You would likely have to anneal it again first.

I have tried other brass over the years and now make my 6.5 Grendel brass from new Winchester 7.62x39 brass, a single pass, die form, trim and then fire form. Most of the other makes of the Grendel brass I have found to be much too soft, allowing primer pocket expansion at the normal operating pressure level for the Grendel.

The so called base case of the 6.5 Grendel, is itself based on and created from the 7.62x39, so I simply go directly to forming the Grendel from the 7.62x39.

I wonder if the steel PSA ACC boxer primed 7.62x39 cases can be resized to 6.5 grendel? I would think that steel cases should be able to take the pressure. I do have some of that boxer primed 7.62x39 ammo in loaded form and will be shooting it.

Reloading or forming with steel cases is not reccomended by anyone. Big difference between factory made steel cases that are coated VS a fired then cleaned steel case when it comes to shooting that reloaded steel repeatedly in a steel chamber. I never shoot or reload steel cases or steel bullets in my guns. You do as you wish, but steel may screw up your chamber, dies and trimmer.

Are you speaking from hands on experience or what you have heard or read?

Below is an experiment with boxer steel case 7.62x39

But for resizing down from 7.62 to 6.5 I still have not seen any information.

Somebody I know reloaded a steel 45 acp boxer primed steel case many many times and it just kept on working fine.
