My first mold- "Pennsylvania State Police bullet, Early 1940's"

Well it was actually in a 20mm ammo can of molds that I got in a reloading/casting lot, but in all fairness it was the first one I picked up and looked at so I'm counting it as my first!

The Hensley and Gibbs site states "#49 - .38 S&W Special. 158 grains. "Pennsylvania State Police bullet." Plain base or bevel base, two rounded grease grooves, crimp groove, gently tapered rounded nose, with round-over to rounded meplat. "Early 1940""

It's marked GEO A HENSLEY like all his early stuff, and 49 (mold number) 358 (drop diameter) 158 (weight) but I'm sure you guys already know how they marked them. It came on a set of handles I'd like to know if are original but I can seem to be able to post pictures as it keeps saying "upload failed". Is that because I'm using a mobile device?

Anyways I thought it was pretty neat, does anyone have any additional info on this particular design?

Well it will let me upload the ones of the mold but not the handles. Is the other picture too big?

Yes. It’s likely too large to upload. All I use here is a mobile device. It’s hit and miss for me.

Try “cropping” the picture before uploading. That’s worked for me in the past.

Turns out I just needed to crop it even more! Seems like the site likes the 1:1 format. So is there a way to ID the handles?

Neither of the H&G mold handles that I have are marked--both were attached to the mold when I bought them--hopefully one of the H&G aficionados will chime in and give us the straight skinny.

Those handles look an awful lot like a set that I have that I tentatively identified as H&G two cavity handles several years ago. Mine came on a set of Lyman two cavity blocks, and they are unmarked.

I don't remember if the four cavity handles that I owned for a short time were marked or not, but I don't think so. The only reason I sold the mold was that I didn't own a gun that could use the boolits.

Those handles are close dimension wise but don’t match what’s on my 2 cavity H&G 43. My handles are stamped Hensley and Gibbs San Diego CA same size and font just as mould is stamped and have a hex nut and bolt.
I filed down a set of RCBS handles years ago to fit my first few H&G moulds before procuring any that came with handles.

I use a cramer hp version of that bullet. Extremely accurate and hard hitting.

I would have liked to get that in a six cavity about thirty years ago . I don't shoot that much now to make it work .
