I think a borescope would work the best.

There are some bore scopes that have a screen and could possibly plug right into your phone, I pad and take the picture. This will also allow it to be sent to others.

Bingo. Cheap considering the price of a barrel, too.

But. There is a learning curve to barrel images and unless you have a machinist background it's difficult to ascertain what you're seeing.

Just my opinion and worth exactly what you paid for it.

Agreed. I have one, and it's really pretty nice for what it cost. I use it all the time for all sorts of things...

Drat if I know where I got it.
    A 90 degree .25" plastic, a tube of polycarbonate
with a rubber adapter to a mini maglight
put in in the breech, lights up the rifling
I use it to admire the leading in the SRH
It will light up any barrel but I have no idea where I got it...
    Pelican light?
Simple thing, works well, to see if the bore is shiny
Wife does not like to see me with my eyeball to muzzle.

Drop the narrowest pen light that you can find down the bore and take pictures with your cell phone.

As long as it's small enough to fit down the bore.

Check out the Teslong Wifi, flex rod, $60 borescope with three (3) 90 degree mirrors.. Very clear. Inexpensive. Very useful.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.

Dry the bore before photographing. Greatly reduces glare and some tiny pits can fill with oil and not be as visible.
