Took the kid out trap shooting

Took my son out for his first trap shoot. We practiced by shooting easy shots from a do-all thrower so he could understand how lead birds. He is a lefty and still pretty small at 12y.o. so we have a single shot topper 490 20 gage fixed full choke.

THE WHIPPERSNAPPER SHOT AN ELEVEN ON HIS FIRST ROUND!!!

He improved up to 15/25 on his third and last round, which included his firing pin breaking and finishing with an Ithaca 37 20ga (it was waaay to big) that a fellow lefty lent him. I was impressed!

If the club is small enough have them set a trap to throw only straight aways on post 3. Post 1 & 2 will give you left angles and 4 & 5 will give you right angles.

Good on you! Took my kids out to the skeet/trap range 30+ years ago and I still remember that day as if it was yesterday!

If you are right handed none of the guns that fit you will fit him if he is a lefty. Cast on VS cast off.

My son is also a lefty, so for him, everything is backwards even scissors, in what is a right handed world.

Watch the little single barrel 20s some have stocks that are cut wrong and kick bad for youngsters. My son did not like his 20ga and preferred my Browning A-5 in 12 ga. One day I tried his 20 it was awful, so I recut the stock butt angle and put a real recoil pad on it, much better.
