Saw them advertised on PSA for $459. Aluminum receiver, made in Turkey. Anyone try one yet?
No but I'd be willing to let go of 5-600 to try one! They look beautiful.
The wood stock looked nice, but paired with the M-lok handguard, I thought it was ugly as homemade sin.
I’d get all synthetic or all wood furniture.
I suppose they are trying to appeal to the younger buyers and the residents of restrictive, freedom hating states.
What’s the real world price on one out in the wild?
Yes. I have one. I like it a lot. Mine isn’t the tactical one that’s being advertised though. Aftermarket parts are pretty non-existent and not much online about them.
I contacted customer support and they were very helpful. I put a no-drill scope mount (the tactical one has a scope rail already, I think) and a scout scope. It’s fed all the 38spl and 357mag I’ve put in it without any issues. The feed gate is really stiff to reload.
It’s definitely not a top of the line rifle but I’d buy another one. In fact, I’ve been thinking about getting the 410 as well.
Saw a review of these online from the company...how is the aluminum receiver going to hold up ??? that was the first thought that went thru my head
I just watched a video review of it. His has a glitch when shooting .38spl where the 8th live round gets ejected along with the fired 7th round's brass.

The aluminum receiver is a turn off for me.
If a man says something in a forest and there are no women around to hear him, is he still wrong?
I'm not much on Aluminum guns,
but the AR platform receivers, various pistols, and Al. receiver shotguns seem to be holding up OK.
I've got a couple Remington 12 ga. and a Colt AR more or less made out of Alum.
and haven't had any issues.

I just ordered one from PSA yesterday. I think I got the same as you Iron369. Is it a parkerized finish or cerakote?
I’d like to see some bench rest accuracy testing, barrel twist rate would be good to know, no long range testing needed just 50yds with any hunting load would be interesting.

Big problem with Al receiver is the rear lug and stretching (head space).
Whatever!
A chunk of aluminum that big shouldn't have any concerns about stretching. We are making mountains for no reason. How many of us have seen Scandium revolvers? Scandium is aluminum alloy, over 90% of it is aluminum. There's no issue with AR Lowers or Uppers stretching either. I understand that some of that comes down to how a thing is designed and I'm not discounting the thought of stretching frames, but in my mind it's widespread use in the firearms industry points me in another direction.

I'd almost forgotten:
Back in my single shot .50BMG days,
I saw a company make a single shot upper in .50BMG that fit onto your AR-15 lower.
Of the different companies making single shot .50s, they were very popular.
It's not the same thing,
but no one ever said anything about the recoil from the upper trashing out the Alum. lower.

Picked mine up this evening. Wood yo metal is a little proud, but nicely finished. The cerakote is smooth and even with no blemishes. Rear sight is is large but usable. Very smooth and light lever action operation. Trigger is very nice. It'll get a scrub down and go to the range this week.
Not fond of Aluminum receivers on rifles although I have considered one of the new Winchester .22's . What kills me on this is the cerakote finish and the billboard on the receiver. Don't care for the safety either.

So far the safety hasn't been a factor. It stays in the off position and there is a half cock feature as well. The label is ceracoated and not engraved or stamped. It could be possible to strip the ceracoat, blue the steel, and either high polish the receiver or gloss black paint it.
Do the locking lug recesses have steel lining or do the lugs bear directly on the aluminum frame?

The steel lugs bear on the frame. Gonna throw a couple hundred more rounds down it on monday. Seems to be doing fine so far. At this rate I should have a thousand rounds through it by the middle of September, a mix of 38 special and 357. The 38s are loaded with 2.8 grains of Clays, and the 357s are loaded with 5 grains of Red Dot.
