    Tisas 1911 STAKEOUT NIC 9MM/38SUP 5"

I had been waiting well over a year for the prior model to be in stock. The Stakeout was recently released so I got one as I wanted something in 38 Super. Getting a 9mm barrel also was a bonus. I've heard good things about the Tisas brand lately so I took the plunge. Right off the bat let me say I used J words. I haven't been able to cast due to my back so cut me a lil slack here. First impression was she is heavy. Turns out she weighs 36.32 oz which is actually lighter than some comparable 1911's. Feels real good, nice and solid. Tried some 124 gr FMJ 9's and wasn't impressed. OK grouping but just wasn't feeling it. Next up was the 38 Super in 125 gr FMJ. To me this is where she shined. I really liked how she felt and grouped. Fit me well especially on a new gun. Bought from Tombstone.

I had purchased three extra 9 & 38 magazines from Brownells which arrived yesterday. They had a 9 in a 38 Super package. Told me to ship the incorrect packaging back (gave me a label) and they were sending out THREE 38 Super magazines for my troubles. Nice customer service.

    Me too!

    Hi Ron,
Thanks for the range report. I ordered mine a couple of days ago from Bud's and hope to get it soon. I too was hoping to get one of Tisas' earlier models (Regulator/Desperado,) but finally gave up after a seemingly endless wait and no expectation of any coming. I already have a few .38SA/9mm combinations (Kimber Target II, Springfield Ronan 9mm with fitted .38SA barrel, and a Colt Gold Cup Lite that started as a .38SA.) I love having the flexibility to switch between the two, especially since factory 9mm is plentiful and cheap. Since I reload & cast, the scarcity/cost of .38SA factory ammo isn't as much of an issue. I've had really good luck with Ed Brown 9mm and .38SA 1911 magazines which are very reasonably priced and function flawlessly in all my pistols. Hopefully, I can work up loads that work well in all of them.

I sold my other 45acp's but kept a Tisa as it shoots very well. Quite a bargain getting a 9mm and 38Super in one package. Almost as good as a 9mm cylinder to go with your 357 Blackhawk or a 45acp cylinder with your 45lc. More options to fiddle with.

I picked one up a few weeks ago and love it. I'm waiting on cases for .38 super but the 9mm was a blast to shoot. I'm still trying to figure out a load to try for the .38 but I'm leaning to cast 147 grain powder coated with Lil'gun.

She comes with an Ed Brown 9mm and 38 Super magazine. I ordered three more Ed Brown's magazines for the 9mm and 38 Super from Brownells as I stated. No issues feeding from the supplied ones nor the spares. Just a well made pistol.

I like the Commander burr hammer and extended trigger on the Stakeout model - looks like a great choice!

I only shot about 15 shots as I was just testing her. Off hand, maybe 25-30 feet aiming at a dent in the cardboard, so a very scientific analysis . The group was actually what I was hoping for, pretty close to POA with the 38 Super barrel. I am pleased so far.

    Finally got mine

    Hi all,
As stated in my previous post, I ordered one from Bud's and it finally came in. I replaced the humped MSH with a flat one, and had Novak Sights install adjustable rear and hi-viz tritium front sights. Now I hope to find/work up a good, common load that all my .38SA will shoot well. I'll post a report once I get a chance to go to the range.

Please keep us posted. Especially curious if you feel the same way with the 38 super vs 9mm.
